Nearly a Month on a Hiking Trail and Highly Recommend this Tent to the Right Person

*by L***S on Reviewed in the United States on August 20, 2016*

DO NOT BUY THIS TENT UNLESS YOU READ THIS: This tent is designed for one person to take backpacking/hiking with them. It is NOT designed for comfort, it is not designed for two people, and it is not designed for people over 6 feet tall. Do not buy this tent if you want something you can spend waking hours "hanging out" in. This is a lightweight tent designed to keep you dry and mosquito free while you sleep, and it functions incredibly well for this purpose.I'm 5'11" and fit just perfectly in the tent - I could lay without my head or feet touching - but only barely. I had to be creative with my gear to keep it dry - there is space under the rain fly outside of the tent where I put my unloaded pack to keep it dry. This worked perfectly, and all my gear (unloaded) would fit around me inside the tent.I used this tent every day for 27 straight days on the Superior Hiking Trail. It kept me perfectly dry through 7 thunderstorms. This was probably my favorite product I had with me on the trip. The tent stakes are needed to erect the tent - it isn't free standing. In other words, if you'll be camping in the mountains, this probably won't work for you. I didn't have any problems on the SHT.WHO SHOULDN'T BUY THIS TENT? If you're over 6' tall, camping from your car, looking to spend waking hours (more than maybe an hour or two) inside a tent or camping on rocky surfaces, this tent isn't for you. Look elsewhere, you'll be disappointed by this.WHO SHOULD BUY THIS TENT? A hiker or backpacker looking to cut weight out of their pack will be absurdly pleased with this product. It will serve all the needs of a dedicated backwoodsman - it is high quality, durable, and keeps you dry out of the box. If you fall into the category of "cutting ounces from my hiking pack" and are on a budget, make this purchase. It will meet your needs perfectly.

    Awesome 1.5 Person Tent!

*by D***Y on Reviewed in the United States on April 24, 2016*

April 24, 2016 (First use)Wow! Such a neat tent in such a small package.Super simple set up even for my first time pitching a non-freestanding tent.Looks awesome once its all set up.I was very surprised at how much room I had inside from side to side. Height clearance isn't really there though(as expected).I am 5'6, 170 pounds with wide shoulders...I was able to prop myself up on my elbow to do stuff inside the tent but could not sit up. This made rolling up my gear a pain, so I think I will stick with doing all that outside of the tent from now on (if weather permits). But even in this awkward position, I was still able to roll up two sleeping bags (one mummy, one standard) and my sleeping pad all well enough to fit in their stuff sacks.I was also able to keep my large backpacking pack inside the tent with me (at the head), which made my feet barely touch the end.A couple concerns I had were if the rain fly provided any kind of vestibule and if you could use this as a 1.5 person tent (fit a couple inside snugly).First: The rainfly did not really provide any vestibule other than to put my sneakers outside (leaning up against the tent). But I do plan on trying to manipulate how I install it next time to increase the size.Second: TBA... After trying it out by myself, I feel like I could fit my significant other inside with me without being too cramped. Will be testing soon.I spent the night in the mountains of New Mexico around 8,000 feet elevation. Temps got down to 44 F with some occasional wind gusts. The wind did not phase this tent one bit. And when I woke up, there was literally zero condensation inside, which was a great surprise. In the morning, it was very easy to break down and shake out (sand from one of my sleeping bags haha). The door position makes shaking out debris very easy and effective. Folding everything back into its original stuff sack was very easy as well.It was pretty obvious that this tent was made of very good quality materials and I was pretty happy with the purchase.May 3, 2016 (second use)THIS TENT CAN SLEEP TWO PEOPLE!!! Definitely a 1.5 person tent width wise...I took my significant other camping as promised and tested this out with two people... We are both 5'6 and we both workout (so neither are skinny), and not only did we fit, but we fit flat on our backs side by side comfortably and she had no complaints. How awesome is that!?!?We used two mummy bags (one Winterial and one SussieSport), no sleeping pads.I forgot to check the temps the next morning, but we woke up in snow. (2 nights later shows 29F low). And with this set up we were both very warm, comfortable with room, and had no significant condensation to complain about in the morning. The only moisture inside the tent in the morning I suspect was from the snow melting and seeping through the rainfly, BUT none of it came raining down on us as we got up and out of the tent - BIG plus!We did sort of cheat and use my truck to block the wind coming up the mountainside, so I can't comment on wind performance this time.Next up: Sand dunes camping. Will update as necessary!

    Tremendous Value & Construction

*by C***E on Reviewed in the United States on October 20, 2017*

Constructed as specified and is well worth the money. I made a test run in my backyard on a windy and rainy night. The rain was very heavy at times and the next morning there was not 1 drop of moisture inside the tent. At 3 pounds it's perfect for backpacking, but not if you are over 6 feet. I does have enough room for a backpack either placed behind your head (easier that way) or at the foot area. You have to unzip the mesh to sit up and purchase 6 more stakes to completely set up the tent if it's windy. One hint: be sure to tie the UNDERSIDE of the fly to the DAC poles or the netting will sag when inside the tent. Otherwise, it sets up like any other tent but is NOT free standing. Stake slightly taunt then progress to the rest of the easy setup. I don't use the tote bag/sack as I just stuff it in a waterproof Ascend bag. A very nice tent/bivy. If you have room in your backpack, you may want to consider a footprint as the tent floor can be punctured on jagged surfaces.
