Altimair Ultra Light 3lb, Highest Quality TPU Outdoor Camping Air Mattress/Mat/Pad, Built-In Foot Pump Plus Portable Air Pump

I'v had this air mattress for just over a year and in that time used it probably 8-10 times for a couple nights at a time. Last month, it developed a slow leak. It's so slow I can't find it and patch it, but fast enough that if you sleep on it all night its mostly deflated by morning. I was hoping this was more durable than less expensive PVC mattresses but that doesn't seem to be the case. Disappointing!

I got this mattress to use with my hammock for field problems and it works great. The firmness is nice even with it not aired up all the way. The only thing that would have gotten it five stars is the foot pump. It is a novel idea but foot placement has to be exactly right for it to work so it can be a little rough and I felt better off blowing it up.

Pumping it up took forever and provided very little padding to sleep on.

This mattress is noisy and keeps me awake.

UPDATE: After the 2nd time using this, the air leaked out by morning. I will be contacting the company.This is a great addition to your camping needs. We tried it out in the house before we took it camping just to see how big it was and how hard it was to pump up... Needless to say, once we figured out how to use the foot pump, it took a few minutes of pumping and that was it. Super fast. Obviously it comes with the electric pump as well, but wanted to see how quickly and easy we could get it pumped up without using the electric... So far this has worked great. It is super light, so easy to backpack with. I purchased this at a discount in exchange for my honest review. :)

I've owned it for over 2 months now and have used it several times, and so I hope that my observations and impressions will prove helpful to you in your decision making. The air pump can be powered by 8 AA batteries, but if you're car camping, a power cord is provided which plugs into your cigarette lighter. The mattress is sized for one person, and is extra long so just about any height will fit without difficulty.Does it work?:The short answer is yes. The mattress inflates easily, holds air throughout the night, and is comfortable. I did encounter some difficulty with the foot pump so let me break this thing down by functions.Air pump: I really like the provided air pump and it makes this mattress perfect for car camping. The pump had this mattress inflated in less than a minute and I was able to get a nice, full inflation, just the way I prefer it for a good night's sleep. You can of course choose a softer setting by simply adding less air, but it's nice to have the ability to fully inflate it, which some mattresses are incapable of providing. There are 3 nozzles that come with the pump and I just chose the one with the largest opening. I did not test the air pump with batteries as I had my car nearby for all uses.Foot pump: This mattress does have a foot pump option should you find yourself using it without your car nearby. The first time I used this method, I was able to actually hear it working and visualize the mattress inflating with each pump. However, with each subsequent use, I found this method less and less effective, and I was never, not even on the first uses, able to get the fully inflated mattress feel that I prefer. The foot pump is a nice emergency option and it'll help keep you off the ground, but quite frankly I'd rather just use my lungs to blow it up. For me, the foot pump is underwhelming.Comfort: The mattress proved to be very comfortable for me. I love the length, which is longer than any other I've tested. I'm 6'2" and have all the leg room I need and more. It is a narrow mattress, though wide enough to for my arms to stay on the mattress which is important for comfort. Most importantly, it holds the selected air level very well. In fact, on one trip I used it heavily over a 3 day period and never once had to re-inflate. That is very impressive to me. Overall, I'm very happy with the size and comfort of this mattress.Storage: The mattress is easily deflated, and rolls up quite compactly into a provided stuff sack. I'm impressed with how compact it stores. There is no provided storage option for the pump, cord and nozzles, so I just keep them in a small rubbermaid bin.Anything else of note?: As of the posting of this review, the mattress is available for free shipping to members of Amazon Prime, and that's always a bonus in my book.Any negatives?: Again, the foot pump isn't very effective as far as I'm concerned. Sufficient in an emergency I suppose, but it takes a lot of effort and I was never able to achieve the high level of inflation that I prefer.Bottom line: I really like this mattress for car camping, and I've decided to keep it in my truck for use during car camping but also as an emergency sleep system should I ever break down overnight. I've tested it by laying right in the bed of my truck and sleeping under the stars and it works great. I get a comfortable night's sleep and I can't even feel the ridges in the bed liner at all. While it's possible to take this on non-car trips, It's too large for the kind of backpacking that I do and I simply don't see this product as a back woods item. But when the car is close, it'd be tough to beat this thing for comfort and ease of use. Having used it several times over the summer, I can also speak to its durability. I'm not a small man, and I'm not very easy on products like this and not only has it held up to all abuse as far as holding air goes, but once inflated, it hasn't ever needed to have any extra air added on any trip. That's impressive to me. I like it as a sleep system for my truck, am happy to own it, and happy to be using it regularly. I'm deducting a star for the failed foot pump, but I'd recommend it to anyone looking for a single air mattress and who plans to mainly use it for car camping or even indoors. Enjoy!
