Beware of the pedestal! Inconsistent power at RV campsites can cause significant damage to your expensive electronic components. Check out the quality of shoreline power with the Surge Guard Surge Protectors, minimizing potential conditions that can damage equipment.

It does what it says, but I wanted more...
I bought this immediately after we bought our first camper. I used it a total of 10 nights/days over a few weeks (4 of those with on/off afternoon thunderstorms - so in dry weather and in the rain), and it worked as described. It never failed on me, and it's still going strong. I like that the male plug side is low profile (fits under receptacle covers) but has a little handle that pulls out to make for easy unplugs. The lights are a little tough to see in sunlight, but all worked as the should. All in all, the product did everything it stated it would, and appears to have a nice build quality. In this respect, it actually deserves 5 stars, which I rated it at.But after a little more understanding of how a camper works, and what can happen, I realized that this will only do 2 things, analyze the polarity and protect against surges. What it does not do is protect against low voltage, and to be fair, it doesn't state that it does (which is why I didn't knock a star from it). Besides this, after reading different reviews around the web, I noticed that many folks stated that units such as this (not only this brand) are really only good for one good power surge, which would fry the unit and then need to be replaced. On top of this, these portable surge protector seem to have a reputation for coming up missing at campgrounds. Some units feature a metal tab to allow users to use a lock and chain to at least chain the surge protector to the pedestal and at least deter a thief fro taking them, but this one does not...So, after realizing what I actually bought, and what I actually wanted, I decided this unit wasn't for me, despite that it does do everything it stated that it should do. I have since replaced this unit with an actual EMS unit that is hardwired inside my camper. None of these things are exactly inexpensive, so I wish I had known more exactly what I needed before buying both units... For now though I will add this Surge Guard to my electric box that I keep in my camper and have it as back up should I ever need it.Bottom line, if all you want is a surge protector, this one seems to be a good one. If you don't know what you want/need, figure it out before being any of them and buy the right one the first time... it's cheaper that way than buying them all!

Does what it's supposed to do
We ended up with two different brands of surge protector for our RV. My husband likes this one the best because when there's a problem with your power, there's an indicator light to alert you. The device does what it's supposed to.BTW, we were at a park in Glen Allen, Va. and this device kept giving us alerts. Something was wrong somewhere, but we were in Glen Allen to pick up our nearly new RV, so we were worried that our new RV had a problem. Then we had a melting wire behind the TV. We had three other electrical issues with the "new" RV. To make a long story short: There was a problem with the campground's electrical supply. We brought our RV back to the dealership but the techs could find nothing wrong with it. We brought the RV back to the campground and this circuit analyzer went on a alert a second time. We left that campground and never had another alert on the device or anymore problems with the RV. So the problem was the electrical supply at the campground, though they insisted they had no electrical issues. We will not go down the road without this device.

Electrical Fault
The device showed nominal operation through our RV trip. I checked it several times. When I unplugged it to leave I noticed it smelled electrically burned and indeed was partially melted around one of the prongs. Amazon sent me a replacement. We will see how that one works. I will update later.

They ruin easy with moisture and the manufacturer won't honor the warranty ...
Works as expected so far. Many people told us to wrap them so rain don't hit them. They ruin easy with moisture and the manufacturer won't honor the warranty if they are rained on and they are and outdoor item

Works fine and is easier to use than some
I initially purchased a Camco 55310 unit because I liked how small it was for the limited space in my truck camper, but that melted during normal use (VERY unhappy about that!), and the Surge Guard 44260 was what I bought as a replacement. It takes more room than the Camco, but with the pigtails on both ends, it may be a better design to keep connectors further away from the electronics (think heat transfer). This is also more intuitive than the Camco - for the Camco you had to look for two yellow lights to indicate normal power (yellow lights are NOT what I typically think of as normal - I think "caution". This has green lights. Not that it's a big deal, because you learn what you need to know, but intuitive always beats out having to learn - any person involved in training programs knows that.I'm giving this 5 stars because I've had no problems with it. As always, I'll update this review if my opinion changes over time.

Electrical security
My previous RV surge protector overheated and failed. It only worked for 3 camping trips. I was very disappointed in the product. This RV surge protector seems higher quality and provides greater sampling of the camps electrical connection. I like the design and the apparently durability.

Absolutely works and stopped a surge from damaging our travel trailer
We're living our RV for 6 months while we do some volunteer projects around Texas. That means a surge protector is an absolute must have. These things are not a luxury, they are an absolute necessary safety item. This thing has saved us twice from surges followed by full power outages at 2 different campsites in 90 days. Both times this cut our power and stopped bad things from happening. Our neighbors weren't so lucky the second time and their electrical system was fried in their Class B RV.

This item is non-returnable after 30 days
We purchased this for our RV, used it at Mosquito State Park and it did not work, tried to use it again at Pymatuming State Park and it still would not work. We figured we would give it a second chance and unfortunately it still did not work! So, we decided to return it and low and behold it is past the 30 Day return policy. We purchased it May 29th and did not use it until mid-June and then the 2nd time this past week July 7th. I would not recommend this product......

Two Stars
This device is not CSA approved in Canada. I was told to remove it from the power supply.
