There's a delay too with the wireless so even though it can increase the volume for a TV show or something the mouths don't match. As far as being portable...yes, you can move it around as long as you move it RIGHT next to your laptop. This has never worked successfully for me to put it in another room and leave the computer elsewhere. It causes significant drag on my internet connection as well. Like too many devices at once and it goes in and out a lot. The sound at its best is about what you'd get from a tiny pocket speaker you could buy at any wireless cell phone kiosk for $10. This is about as big as a paver brick, so not super inventive or powerful for such a big item in today's plethora of tech.
