These are the worst kind of people
This company is downright unethical. They charge a ton for the adapter, a ton for the application, plus a lot more to actually unlock things in the app.BEWARE of their adapter updates that come through the application. My adapter worked as expected for just under a year until the most recent adapter update that comes through the Cary app. Now my adapter is totally bricked and I can't connect it to either of my family's BMWs.Their support recommended that I either A) send it back to Germany for a refund which is useless as the shipping costs more than the adapter or B) purchase a new one. Seriously? They literally bricked my adapter with their update and recommended I just buy a new one. This company and their product is completely untrustworthy.

Battery registration does not work -- Poor customer service
Product does not perform as advertised.I purchased this transmitter for $80, along with the Carly App for iPhone for $50, and then spent the $10 for the battery registration in-app purchase. My sole purpose for purchasing this connector and the app was to register a new battery for my car. The Carly website clearly states that my model is supported by their battery registration software (2012 328i convertible). After mutiple attempts I would either get a failure message, or it would appear to have completed successfully, but then checking the battery data should that the new battery had not been registered.I contacted Carly to report the problem. To their credit, they replied within 24 hours, and requested that I send the data logs. I did so, and they replied with the following message:“Hello, Thanks for your email and the log. We are currently collecting "problem cases" like yours. Later, our experts will look into it and try to identify the reason for the problem. When we have found the reason for the problem, we will work out a solution - as far as possible. Please understand that this will take some time. Herzliche Grüße aus München / Best greetings from Munich”I informed them that the only reason I had spent $140 was to register my battery, and that without that functionality, a capability they claimed there product had, it was useless to me. They replied with:“Hello, it's not possible that the product not work….Only 1 (in-app) additional special feature has a problem in this time…If you want, sure we can refund your Battery reg. Addon. Herzliche Grüße aus München / Best greetings from Munich”This is a terribly unsatisfing resolution. They are willing to refund $10 of $140 because the rest of the program works (which may or may not be true).Bottom line, this product does not work as the company claims, and when it fails they are perfectly happy to keep your money and leave you holding their lemon. Don't waste your money like I did.On the possitive side, the transmitter does connect to the car, and I was able to establish the WiFi connection with ease. Just meaninless to me as the only reason I need that WiFi connection is to tell the car it has a new batter and to stop charging it like it was 5 years old. Now I will spend the same amount on another device and hope that that manufacturer is honest about their capabilities.

Stay away from this product!
This must be the biggest waste of money I have ever spent. First of all, I ordered this on a Sunday night, they didn’t ship it until Thursday the week after. When I finally get the product and follow their instructions to a T it does not work, I have sent 6 different emails to their so called support and they all come back with the same generic reply, something about them needing the log files, which ARE included in every single mail but they still asks for the log file, go figure.Another “issue” is that they are located in Germany and their English is not all that great, and if you get a reply it will be in the middle of the night.Furthermore, the app is really confusing and don’t really make any sense, the grammar is horrible, they need someone that knows how to translate to English. This might be a good product if you are one of the lucky ones that gets a unit that actually works, but I have a feeling that the quality is very poor. The vehicle I was going to use this for is an 2006 BMW 330cic ZhpI will be returning this product.

Confusing Website and Zero Customer Support
I read extensively about this product before ordering. Since I have a 2014 X3 that I had some codes changed on manually before I knew my vehicle was capable of most things Carly is meant to do. I tried to find out if Coding could be done with the free LITE app plus an in app purchase of "CODING" but the information on their site is confusing on this point. I ordered the pro version of the app in order to avoid this issue because the "PRO" version supposedly includes everything. I have had intermittent connection problems but can sometimes get all the way through to editing the codes. However when I try to update the edits into the vehicle I am asked to purchase an additional module for $13.99. Even if I wanted to there is no function withing the app ( that I can find) where you can do this. I have emailed support a number of times but getting only one useless generic reply. I am going to give them 24 hours more to respond or I am sending this back.

The initial cost of the adapter is not bad at all
The initial cost of the adapter is not bad at all. No manual or actual product box. – It came in a plastic bag.PricingI bought it knowing that I had to download ad $40.00 plus App.The product work as described except that the iDrive is not part of this app –I have to spend another $15.00 in order to code itI’m stock with this product now. For all of you thinking about purchasing this item think about $145.00 to code your vehicle.

Open up your wallet more and more often
I bought this overpriced hardware and then paid a couple time to “unlock” features from their app.Only to find out this app doesn’t do what it claimed to do..most importantly it doesn’t reset fault codes. If you thinking of buying for coding your car, you also need to buy a 200 bux 12v current supplying unit to prevent depleting the car batt.Only a couple of months after owning this dongle and their app they have already moved to subscription model which means what the portion I have paid towards the app becomes obsolete.Pay to unlockpay to subscribeAnd later pay per uses ...

Buggy Software. More Money Asked
This Dongle itself works, but the software that goes with it is buggy. The latest update is still buggy and now that I have paid for the software and the Dongle, they want even more money for features. I understood that the Pro Version has all the features, but once you get it, you find out that they want another $20.99 for IDrive coding, another $6.99 for Service Reset, another $13.99 for Battery Registration, another $13.99 for DPF Regen, but the manuals are free. Sweet. What a waste. I wish I never started down this road. Into the trash heap it goes. This was the most expensive product out there and supposed to do it all with the Pro Version. NOT SO.

Overall pleased!
2013 BMW X5 E70. It added some extra convenience features: Able to shut hatch with key fob and interior front button now. Previously could only shut hatch with the button on the hatch itself. Able to fold sideview mirrors in and out when pressing the lock/unlock button on keyfob. Previously only able to use an interior button on the door. Now have a digital speedometer on dashboard that can be viewed as Kilometres or miles. Never had that option. Some other features and diagnostics that I haven’t tried yet but am happy with what I’ve been able to code so far. Yes it’s pricey but the short time and easy effort to code is worth it! It doesn’t come with any instructions just search and watch a couple YouTube videos before you start.

Worked well for what I needed on BMW 5 series
I have had this Carly Generation II adapter for a while using on a 09 BMW 528 and worked well for:- Reset the battery - had to replace a battery- Reset after oil service- Reading codesI did try a bunch of other parts of the app, but really did not see the need to use. There were some additional charges for some features, but compared to what the dealership will charge, it was much less. The software has been upgraded several times and it has been mostly without error. I only need to contact support 2 times and got the answers I needed.Anyways, you probably should check into the latest updates and fit for your car and if its worth it.
