But, side by side puts both poles together** A: You can simply flip one of the D-cells around so that the positive terminal contacts the spring end of the holder and the negative terminal rests against the non-spring end. **Q: it appears the "D" positive terminal does not make good contact with the copper rivet unless i use a piece of aluminum foil as a shim. suggestions?** A: The one I got makes good contact. **Q: Can wires be soldered to the connectors?** A: Yes. It took me a second to realize the contacts on the outside needed to be bent to make contact, but that is just me being a bit slow. Woot, now will last really long time. ### ⭐⭐⭐ it works, but be careful *by D***L on July 11, 2019* The springs on the neg. terminal are too long and tend to bend making battery insertion difficult. The way the units snap together is clever and versatile, bet when pushing the units together in parallel be careful that the inserted connector does not push the receiving connector up so far as to contact the outside of the battery case and cause a short.. once everything is together and batteries properly inserted it works well.
