In this, it succeeds for years 1993 through about 2005. However, the formative years, 1991's Fright Nights, and 1992's "second annual HHN", are poorly researched, speculative, and in many cases outright wrong. This is too bad, because to really understand how this very interesting event evolved, its formative years are key. The real story of the first two years is actually far more interesting than the book. I really enjoyed learning about previous years I was unable to attend, and getting a behind-the-scenes glimpse of the design process. Towards the end, it felt more like bullet-pointing the different houses and themes instead of the detailed looks at earlier years, and there were a surprising amount of type errors. Overall, a definite MUST-HAVE for any Halloween Horror Nights fan. I was really interested in knowing what happened each year to see how the event has progressed. But the spelling and grammatical errors are killing me. I have to read sentences over and over again to try to understand what the writer meant. Sometimes I stop completely and have to recover from how poorly written this is.
