They appear to be true to size (I bought 1-2 years for my 15 month daughter). The material is thick but breathable. I like that the pattern goes all the way up to the waist instead ending mid-thigh like other styles. The pattern has little umbrellas, which adds a little charm without being too obvious. I recommend washing them on gentle in a laundry wash bag & hanging them to dry to preserve the quality.
