Two reasons: One, this pump moves a small volume of fluid. Good for bleeding brakes but moving gallons would take a long time and you would have to empty the small container many times. Two, the tubing and container are all plastic and I'm not sure if they would react with gasoline or not. Plus, there would be a lot of combustible fumes escaping. Could be dangerous.Modern gas doesn't last long without stabilizers in it, so if it has been in the car long, it isn't worth recovering. If you have to, marine supply stores have rubber bulbs for priming fuel lines. They can be used to safely start a fuel siphon. **Q: Does it come with a case or something to store it in?** A: It comes in a plastic tray, it can be stored in the tray. If I were going to frequently use the tester I would buy a storage case. **Q: I'm using this to make water boil, would this vacuum pump be sufficient enough to get the pressure low enough?** A: This pump will max out at 25" Hg, that will get the boiling point down to 130 F. If you can get the vacuum down to 28" Hg, water will boil at about 80 F. Altitude and water purity will affect those numbers. Search for "Hand Boiler" to find those blown glass learning toys. They boil at body temp and are kinda cool. **Q: Can this be also used to generate pressure for tests?** A: Yes. The new model is much nicer! ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Doesn't suck as much as everyone thinks. *by C***. on November 6, 2016* Important Information on Brakes: If you have any doubt over your ability to work on brakes, let a competent professional fix them. Incorrect maintenance/bleeding of brakes can get yourself or someone else killed. The Rest: Seems to be a lot of bad press on here regarding this product. As an owner of a 15 year old out of production motorcycle from a company that closed its doors some time ago, I do quite a bit of my own maintenance. I found my brakes were getting spongy and the front line was stiff and ready to be replaced. I was able to find a New Old Stock (NOS) front brake line and had to track down the correct size 10mm crush washers. With the brake line replacement came the issue of getting all the air out of the line. I found this tool handy along with the factory service manual to get both front and back calipers flushed and lines bled of any air. I used a bungee cord to hold the plastic reservoir in place on the bike to accommodate a one-person job and prevent the line from coming off the bleeder screw. The brakes firmed up and after a test ride at a traffic free location; there have been no issues. Tool works as advertised and I am happy with the purchase. As always, I believe in buying good quality tools that will last but you also have realize that tools and equipment will only work as well as you treat them (and why I do not loan tools.) Issues: What keeps this from a five star review is that the plastic handles are super smooth, making the tool easy to slip out of your hand if you are not careful.
