No idea how much they weigh, but they are sturdy and won't break down like the wooden ones. I have pyjamas etc. in two of two of the full width ones and photo albums and old photos in the third bottom one, and all types of medications in the top two side by side drawers. My husband's drawers have documents and books in them, which probably weigh heavier I think, and the bottom drawer is full of electrical plug connections and plugs(?). Hope that gives you an idea of what they carry.
