They are all hikers and all tough on gear. These pants are perfect for layering with base layers for super cold hikes and snowshoeing, water resistant, have held up to butt sliding, and tree climbing. I always buy one size up so we can keep them longer, (which is why the included belt is great) but they are true to size if you follow the age recommendation.
