Review: One of the best of the wireless DAC/amps with amazing battery runtime - This is an excellent Bluetooth DAC/amp. I use mine to connect via Bluetooth to my phone, I stream music from my phone to the device and I listen using whatever wired earphones I feel like using. A DAC converts the digital signal to analogue sound and the amplifier makes it louder. Devices like this effectively turn any wired headphone or IEM into a wireless one only you get to choose the headphones you want to use. Many people don't want to be restricted to those earbuds and headphones that manufacturers turn into Bluetooth models. Devices like this with decent earphones sound better than wireless buds and headphones. With a wireless headphone once the battery inevitably degrades or the electronics fail after a few years you have a useless headphone that the manufacturer won't service. A Bluetooth DAC/amp makes way more sense. Wear it on your upper body using the clip or a lanyard and you then have just a few inches of cable running to your headphone. Your hands are free, no wire running to your phone and you have great sound. I'm pretty enthusiastic about these gadgets and wonder why I don't see more people using them. Bluetooth is not what it used to be, this device can use LDAC which is a codec that can transfer data at 990kbps rather than the 330kbps that was once the norm. It is almost lossless. I doubt many people couid identify a track streamed over LDAC bluetooth from a track played using a wired dongle. It can be used as a USB dongle DAC but I don't use it like that. These devices are intended for use in your personal space, not for streaming over long distances. Range varies depending on structures but about 10 metres is about the most you should expect. As I have my phone on me as well as the device the range isn't important to me. Some people find that if they put these devices in a trouser pocket their body blocks the signal. I've never experienced this but I always wear mine on my upper body. This device has buttons that can be easily activated so it is best to keep it out of pockets that have other stuff in them. The ES100 is known for it's amazing app. You can get into tweaking the EQ and all kinds of settings, it is very comprehensive and some of it requires a little expertise. You don't have to get into that though. The app is set up by default to give you clear access to the core features for simple management. You can access the other stuff easily but most of what you need is in one very simple page. I particularly like the feature that estimates the sound volume in dB. Good to keep an eye on that. This has so many features that I can't get into describing them all. The ES100 sounds fantastic, I use other devices of it's type that cost more and it sounds just as great. The one thing that really impressed me is the battery life. I have two other devices like this with similar spec and features from another manufacturer, the ES100 runtime using LDAC is longer than the combined runtime of those devices at around 15 hours. It is such a tiny gadget too, I've seen it many times on video and in photos but when I got it it looked about half the size I expected. This gadget has been around a few years now and is still one of the best, so good I can overlook the micro usb port. All of these devices are around the same price and they all do pretty much the same thing. There are small differences, this one can't do 24/192, you would need the Fiio BTR5 for that, the BTR5 has much shorter runtime, a far more basic app but is still a great gadget and can power far more demanding headphones. If you're not bothered about 24 bit192khz and many people including audiophiles aren't, this device is a great choice. The ES100 has a lot of charm to it, it was designed by a small company and they put a lot of work into making something far better than you should reasonably expect.
Review: Great little device! - This is a very well designed and supported little device. There are numerous features aimed at providing excellent audio quality included and frequent firmware updates suppliying both fixes and new functionality. The control app used to configure advanced features is simple and effective. I found a thread on a well known headphone audio forum where the manufacturer was interacting with the community of early adopters, directly accepting feedback and improvement requests. These are usually good signs for a niche product like this. So how does it sound? In a word, great! The ES-100 provides ample power to drive headphones up to 250ohm and also excels at driving multi-BA IEMs with its "high power" / low impedance (~0.5ohm) output mode. As a wired DAC / headphone amp it provides a very clean, neutral experience standing head and shoulders above a standard mobile phone or computer audio output in terms of detail and dynamics. In wireless mode using AAC or Apt-X HD compression it's difficult to spot differences from the wired connection unless sitting down quietly and listening for the minor compression artifacts using certain songs and headphone pairings. Battery life is pretty decent at around 12hours+ by my reckoning in high power mode. For travel use it's very small, light and includes an integrates sprung loaded clip. There is also a mic which can be used for hands free calling or audio pass-through, although I have no need for this so it was only confirmed that it seemed to work fine. What could be improved? I'd personally like to see the micro-USB connection be changed to USB-C as this is fast becoming standard, is reversible and a little more sturdy. Also, the shell of the ES-100 is quite a thin plastic which doesn't instil a lot of confidence in its ability to take a knock. For mobile usage it might be good to change to something a little more rubberised or perhaps add a bit of metal for the frame? The buttons are also a bit on the small side for my fat fingers. Would I recommend this? If you're in the market for a portable, relatively inexpensive battery powered USB / bluetooth headphone DAC / amp and place audio quality at the top of your list of priorities then I would absolutely recommend you check out out the ES-100.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ FEATURE OVERLOAD! and i love it
*by I***X on 13 January 2020*

this product has so many features its impossible to know where to start, it really does have just about everything so I'm gonna break this down a bit. BUILD the ear studio is pretty well built, the plastics feel pretty good and it is very lightweight and can easily fit in the smaller pocket above my larger pocket in my jeans. having a clip is nice but personally i don't much use it myself. there are two jacks, a standard 3.5mm (very nice for iPhone users like myself, don't have to waste money on more dongles) and a 2.5mm balanced which is really nice to see. inside is a 24bit 48Khz DAC chip, a battery that lasts around 4-6 hours in my experience depending on what they are powering and an amplifier that can drive high-end cans like my DT1990 pros and my HD600s yo uncomfortable volumes. Sound the sound of this DAC is very good, i have tried it with all manner of headphones and earphones and i have found it to always sound great from the 3.5mm jack, the sound is very clear and detailed and the upscale in the DAC is nice for listening to low quality tracks off of my phone when out and about, which is mainly what i use it for. the amplifier also produces very little noise in my experience and is plenty capable of powering just about anything i have been able to throw at it. i mainly use IEMS like the fiio FH5 and the Sennheiser IE80S with this though and they sound far better on this than on my iphone XS Max. Features now, this is where this device really stands out when i say it has everything i really mean it. so ill just list them 3.5mm and 2.5mm output, Bluetooth and micro B input with support for every CODEC you could ever want including Aptx HD AAC and LDAC, the ability to change the output power outage, fine control over volume and the power you push to your device and even a volume readout in decibel, the ability to use this device as a stand-alone DAC, AMP or pre amp idf that's your thing, an amazing EQ setting with more than 2 dozen excellent presets, crossfeed support for a more speaker style experience, DAC filter customisation, DAC upscaling and downscaling, ambient sound playthrough and a inbuilt microphone. and even more, the list goes on and on its simply staggering how much this little box can do. Conclusion this is an amazing device for the price, great sound, a staggering feature set and good build, i would recommend to anyone looking to improve there mobile audio expirience any day of the week, just buy it
