I think people may be placing them in the freezer right side up since they don't have instructions, causing the gel to expand in the bottom of the cup - thereby warping or busting the plastic. I tried with & without, & the lid still leaks when using the cup.** A: Not sure, I don't put the lid in the freezer. Maybe the rubber seal got damaged when the lid froze. Or it could just be the rubber seal needs to be adjusted in some way.
