My boyfriend would assemble while i prepared and found the pieces for the next step. The wood pieces were well identified but were hard to find due to the amount of pieces there were to sort through. Our son hasn't had the chance to play with it yet as we just assembled it today, but he is 15 months and this felt like a good choice for him as it doesn't have any complicated steps or anything that felt too dangerous for his age. The instructions suggest average assembly time at 6-8 hours, and that seems accurate. My wife and I worked together and it took us around 6.5 hours. Plastic pieces are not pre-drilled, but drill locations are clearly marked and are extremely easy to drill out. Given the quality of materials and the joy it's already brought our family in 2 days, I could stomach the full price.
