The part came in a box that looks to be a genuine OEM part. I believe this is a genuine OEM part.When we purchased our dryer the knob was ridiculously tight. We called customer service and a technician told us that the newer machines have the knob that tight. I can tell you the new knob is easier to turn than the old one.For what it's worth, the problem wasn't this part. The knob that was attached to this part had some cracks in it and was spinning around. I ordered a non-OEM part with a metal piece that goes around the shaft on the knob as opposed to the plastic that came with the machine.I'm glad I replaced this part because the new part spins much easier.How long the new parts will last I do not know. The machine works today and I know where to purchase the replacement parts if needed.A couple of notes.Don't disconnect the old part until you get the new one. Carefully slide the old part out of its position and the new part into position and then move the wires one at a time. There is a small torx screw holding the part in place, make sure to remove that first. There is a small plastic tab by the torx screw that broke off for me but didn't seem necessary anyway.When you put the two long screws in the back of the dryer put a little tape to hold the screws to the socket or nut driver you are using to prevent the screws from falling behind the machine.I chose not to move the machine out to do this job. I used a small mirror to line up the socket on the two screws around the back of the machine and was very careful to use one hand to hold the screw and one hand to hold the socket when removing. Once you remove the back panel you can remove the rest of the screws to gain access to the component.This is a very doable job for anybody who is comfortable tackling similar projects around the house. Be patient and never force any screws or parts. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Take the wires a loose 1 at a time. You need a small Allen wrench or hex key *by P***Y on July 27, 2025* The media could not be loaded. Installation was simple and this replacement part has now been in my dryer for approximately two months. No issues so far but I am being gentle with it because I have heard these parts only last a few months. The gears inside should have been made of metal however they are made of cheap plastic.
