The last 2 series are having built in rechargable battery which saves the trouble changing batteries and gives long recording times up to 10 14 hours depending on usage for a single charge. The audio quality has always been great with sony.. And the line in feature is also useful if I want to make recording from and amplifier by connecting a cable or through line out from other devices.
