(People's faces will be stretched too tall.) This is not the Bleiden converter's fault; all HDMI-to-Composite converters display that way because that's the way the picture comes out of the Roku. The little instruction manual that comes with the Bleiden converter says as much on the front page: "...you might notice that the output from the converter appears slightly narrower on a standard definition TV... this is completely normal..." Well, "slightly narrower" is putting it mildly! To me, the distortion is utterly butchering the picture. (But either all of the rave reviewers here are shills, or else a lot of people don't mind the distortion. After all, a lot of local TV stations broadcast shows with the picture stretched, and get away with it.) But a converter that also adjusts this aspect ratio would add several hundred dollars to the cost! So there are only two ways to fix the picture: 1) With some kind of "zoom" button on your TV (but most old TVs don't have one), or 2) Change the aspect ratio from the device feeding the Bleiden converter. Here's how to make the change in your Roku:• Go into a secret Roku developer menu by rapidly hitting the remote control keys:Home (five times), FF, Play, RW, Play, FF...which brings up "Platform Secret Screen."• Then go into:System Operations Menu• Then select:Enable selecting all resolutions• Then hit the Home key to get out to the normal Roku home screen, and go into:Settings > Display type...and select "4:3 standard"This will properly display widescreen video letterboxed from your Bleiden converter on an old CRT 4:3 TV, without anamorphic distortion.Five stars because this Bleiden converter is *very* high quality, seems to be of exceedingly good & durable construction, excellent clear picture, no wobble, jitter, or artifacts, and gets the black levels right. I am used to recording my TV shows, mostly PBS, off the roof antenna. So I set up the Roku, via this converter, to input to my DVR as well. The converter's setup instructions were good (essential!) and helpful. I've had the converter for about a year, seldom use the Roku except when I miss an important show, and it's stayed working just fine.I upped my local public television station's annual contribution to $60 in exchange for their Passport service, which lets me record a ton of PBS shows including Masterpiece. ABC's Roku channel will let you record prime time shows, like Grey's Anatomy, for free, a week after they first air. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ 5.0 out of 5 stars Works Great on old RCA CRT Television *by W***. on Reviewed in the United States on February 19, 2016* this converter really works. it is important to plug in the av plug for the converter as well as the plug for the roku device - both need electricity for this to work. once i did this the device worked beautifully on my RCA crt television which has the red white and yellow connectors but no hdmi. even better, i tried this same converter on my old 13" tv set that only takes an rca cable - doesn't even have the composite jacks. i used an RF modulator which allows me to connect the cable to the RF modulator, and composite (red white yellow) from RF modulator to the Bleiden HDMI 3RCA AV converter. connected the roku to Bleiden HDMI 3RCA AV converter and like i said connected Roku and Bleidend to av - actually to a power strip and it still worked. I got the Roku working on my old tv set and was even able to use my iphone and cast videos from Youtube onto my old tv! so really great to still be able to use my old tv and unlike the digital tv's you can see the screen from any viewing angle. i actually also have a digital tv that i'm pleased with but this is great for the old tv that still works perfectly well and you don't want to part with.
