My inverter uses an Ethernet port for RS485 - I just cut the end off of an old Ethernet cable and hooked up 2 wires to the Waveshare and plugged everything in. Build quality appears to be good. I found the driver on the ftdichip website and now it works. I'm using it to connect to a Samsung HVAC system. The official Samsung version of this costs 1k.
