I don't think it is real wood, as it seems more like the fake wood that gets painted / stained over somehow. There are tiny lines that look kinda like cracks in the finish that look like they were painted over. Also, the little cubby areas for lotions and such are a little smaller than I imagined from the picture. I still like the idea of having items up on the wall away from baby (and our dog) next to the changing table. It's perfect for our nursery. It's pricey, but I don't know how we'd keep things organized without it. To make it just a little bit better, I installed three small hooks on the left side of the cabinet, to hang small toys to give to my baby to distract him while I change him. With two under two, I have had my fair share of diapers, wipes, creams, nail clippers and everything else baby located on my nightstand with barely any room for anything else. Then... the WINDEL arrived. It truly is an all around amazing product. The wood is top quality and the finishes are beautiful. I use ours obviously for baby products but with this design you can use it for much more. Once our kids outgrow the diaper stage I will use ours for storage like as in remotes and other common household items that need a place for storage.What I love best besides the quality is the fact that the WINDEL allows you to have storage for items but also remains a beautiful piece of furniture in your home. Our WINDEL matches with all our other furniture perfectly. We always get compliments on the photo displayed then our friends are amazed when I open it and show them that its also storage.
