Review: Right tool for the job. More economical in the long run than a series of 9V batteries. - I have seen quite a few online videos and instructions on how to test LED TV backlights using 9V batteries instead of a “costly tester”. Unfortunately, testing LED TV backlights with 9V batteries is not as economical as it may seem. At 3V per LED, testing a strip of 6 LED would require at least two 9V batteries. Testing an array of twenty LEDs would require about six batteries. Where I'm from a 9V battery is about $3.50 each (x6 batteries) = $21 plus tax. That in addition to wires plus time and effort assembling it. This LED tester is $19 delivered to my door. It comes complete with test probes and is designed for one specific purpose only – Test LEDs. Whether it’s a single LED, a strip of six or an entire array of twenty plus LEDs, this tester will test them all. I used it to test the top and bottom half backlight arrays of a 55-inch LG HDTV I was repairing. Not only I was able to identify the defective strip from the entire array in seconds, but I also zeroed in on the actual bad LED. For individuals with even the most basic electronics background, this tool is simple to use with virtually no risk of damage to the LED since the output is adaptive and automatically adjusts to the output required of however many LEDs are tested at the same time. In contrast, a series of 9V batteries always provide full power and can easily damage LEDs. Build quality is decent but I’m not sure how long this will last on heavy-duty repair shop use. This tester is best suited for DIY, hobbyist, students or technicians training. Anyone looking for an easy and effective way of troubleshooting any LED issues including TV backlights this would be your tool. It’s actually more economical in the long run than a series of 9V batteries.
Review: Great Tool - Worked perfectly to diagnose and test TV backlight LEDs.

## Questions & Answers

**Q: What's the difference between this and a basic digital multi meter?**
A: This is NOT a multi-meter, because this actually outputs voltage from 0 all the way until 300V but it will stop when there's resistance (meaning the LED/light bulb starts to light up, at least that's what I think is happening). But a multi-meter only detects voltage and not pass voltage to be able to light up an LED for example.

So with this device, you don't even need to power up your TV or LED that you are testing, you can just have an LED light strip for example not connected to anything, and with this device you place the RED lead on the + of led strip and BLACK lead on the - of the led strip and the led strip will light up after a few seconds, if it doesn't then the led strip is broken.

Hope that helps, I used it to fix a broken Sony TV that would not power up (because some of the LED bulbs inside went bad).

**Q: I got shocked. Did I do something wrong because it says no electric shock on it?**
A: if you touch the LED bar/bulb at same time as you testing depends on bar you might get shocked since there is current going over it . But I never got shocked if I just touch the probes themselves .

**Q: Im wondering... Would this tester work for testing car fuses as well??**
A: No, I would not think so. This is basically a voltage and low electric current generator and monitor. What you need is a continuity tester.

**Q: "Output Voltage :0-300V "........ ac or dc?**
A: I got this one first and it DID NOT right it, it was supposed to check the back lights onTV and see what worked and what didn't but what it did it put way to much voltage and it would burn the back lights out, so yo end up replacing ones that were good so after that mistake I got a little more expense and it worked just fine, the good one I got was X00249NZ1H, and it worked like it was supposed to, the way it works is when you check the back lights it would send the correct voltage and light them up so you know how many you have bad, you may get lucky and only have one blub not working on the strip and that will stop them all from working, hope this helps.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Great Tool
*by P***. on January 4, 2026*

Worked perfectly to diagnose and test TV backlight LEDs.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Worked Perfectly out of the box. Easy to use and saved me a lot of time.
*by H***1 on June 3, 2024*

Shipped quickly and arrived without any issues. Plugged it in, It energized to 300V and then I used it to test the LED light strips in my 65" TCL TV. I had a strip that showed open, and all but 3 strips of lights had 1-3 of 7 lights out. Saved me a lot of time and guessing. It was also reassuring that I was able to test the newly installed light strips prior to reassembling the TV. I definitely recommend this product for the home hobby/do it yourself type of person.
