Its very small so you don't have to plan for much space. It could also be mounted using 3M tape to even more free up some desk space. I haven't noticed a huge addition to the quality of picture as I am using a VGA cable to connect it to the monitor. I am using VGA because it is the secondary connection tot the monitor. The smaller screen of the monitor vs a tv is a huge difference. It seems a lot less blocky. I am mostly playing PS1 RPGs like Final fantasies, Xenogears and Legend of Dragoon. The audio out port connects to a secondary input on my KLH computer speakers and the audio is flawless. There is light that denoted power to the device as it may go long periods without use it is nice to be able to turn it off and not have to unplug it. I watched a U-tube video that helped me to connect my boyfriends older model playstation and connected it to a monitor.
