    Arctos GPW Military Watch

I've now had this watch for over three weeks and here are my thoughts on it.I chose this watch over other manufacturer for a simple large dial watch that had the following features: sapphire crystal, titanium case, rubber watch band, and a simple watch face design. The watch looks very nice and is extremely light comparing a watch of this size from other manufacturers using stainless steel housing. The rubber composite band is one of the thinest profile design I've seen and I like this aspect of it because if I choose to wear it with my business attire it doesn't cause "bunch up" on my sleeve of my dress shirt and suit.Oddly enough, I do have one minor complaint and it has to be the rubber band - specifically the metal clasp assembly. The metal clasp assembly is a hinged one-piece design that has a rather large clasp and lock mechanism that makes the watch band feel somewhat tight around my wrist. I've have worn rubber watch bands in the past and the traditional watch strap latch with a simple strap buckle mechanism doesn't have this problem. If the manufacturer changes the locking clasp mechanism to a much smaller one I'd rate this watch 5-Stars!

    GPW - Great Watch

*by C***X on Reviewed in the United States on November 29, 2012*

Ok, I'm not a watch collector and have owned one watch for the past 15 years (citizen eco-drive E710). Great watch, but I wanted something different that had similar quality to Citizen, and wasn't expensive. I researched many different watches and spent many hours thinking about what I needed in a watch. I was going to get another Citizen, because I really like not replacing a battery....ever. I came across the GPW Military (Arctos) watch. I understand why they use the "military" in their label, but I think they would sell more if this was removed. Anyways, the GPW Military is a Great Watch. For $200 bucks you get a sapphire crystal, titanium case, swiss movement (not sure what type of swiss movement) with day of the week and date, adequate glow in the dark reading of time, nice high quality synthetic wrist band, high quality german stainless steel clasp, water resistant to 660 feet, and rotating bezel made of an unknown substance (hopefully something scratch proof). The only negatives are future battery replacement, and the synthetic wrist band can cause mild sweating if too tight. In short, you better jump on this watch while they are on sale, because when word gets out you will have to pay twice as much.Update: The battery went dead at about 20 months of use and I sent the watch to GPW for warranty work without a problem. However, a couple months later I was taking a bath and moisture built up behind the crystal. The case wasn't closed properly, so I sent it back to GPW and they repaired the watch, sent it back to me, and gave me a full refund. Their customer service is outstanding and I really can't take off a star, because it is a great watch for the price with excellent customer service.

    Good value

*by E***5 on Reviewed in the United States on December 18, 2012*

For those who like their wristwatches stylishly minimalistic , battery-powered,and relatively inexpensive, this is a good choice. After purchase it came with a product registration certificate already filled in with a distinctively European hand. I find the watchface easy to read, even in the dark, and so far it has kept accurate time within 10-15 seconds a week. The wristband is rubber with a nonadjustable clasp---a distinct negative for anyone who dives regularly and needs a band that will adjust between a bare wrist and a wetsuit. The band comes very large, and unless you have a wrist like Popeye, it must be cut down and adjusted to wear on the street. There are several clasp pinholes for adjustment, but after spending a lot of time carefully cutting and sizing it to my wrist, I couldn't get it to fit comfortably. I like to wear a watch snug to my wrist ("snug", not "welded") and with this kind of fit the clasp hinge kept digging into the inside of my wrist and driving me nuts---like having a rock in your shoe. I adjusted the band out a bit but it was too loose---I hate a watch that moves around. Ultimately I decided I liked the watch itself enough to keep it and ordered a $27 wristband with a conventional belt buckle and swapped it out. Now the watch fits the way I like it. No doubt some buyers would have sent the watch back without going thru the hassle but I do like the way it looks and runs. I've had kind of bad luck with watch purchases lately and hope this one will last me awhile.
