I opened the can and used over a couple weeks with no issue. I did leave the dry packet in the can and keep the plastic cover on it. The fact that a plastic cover comes with the can implies this product can be opened and resealed for future use. No idea how long an open can will last but a couple weeks was not an issue. Making smaller meals from the can was not difficult. I boiled the same amount of water as the size of the mix. I did 1 cup of mix and added 1 cup of boiling water. I sealed in a bowl using tin foil and it came out perfect. Recommend the can if you can get it cheaper than the pouch. Note the pouch is two servings and the can is 10 servings or equivalent to 5 pouches. Oddly, the larger size can is usually a little more expensive than ordering the same quantity in the smaller pouches. Good brand, quality product, shelf life of 30 years but once the can is open, consume it within a week. So, if you just want to try it, you should plan to eat the entire can within a few days of opening it. This will be great for a few friends camping together and easy a quick chili mac meal around the fire in the evening after fun activities all day! It's also great for the prepper who is stocking the bunker or emergency food stock. It's a very lightweight can and doesn't take up much space.
