My teak furniture is some 3 years old and had got to a position where it had silvered but also had the fungus which felt rough to the touch. Some might like the state but it looks 'weathered' rather than nicely aged which is why I searched to see what options were available to make it right. You can see from the photos an example of one piece of furniture in its current state, one having had the teak cleaner applied, another with the brightener and then another with one application of oil and the last with a 2nd. The table has had 2 applications of oil to the top 12 hours ago. You do need to apply some 'elbow grease' to scrubbing the teak (not too hard or you'll score the wood) with an immediate result of a smooth to touch finish (I could probably have done with a light sand to take the stubborn roughness but the size of the job (extended table, 10 chairs, 2 recliners and a coffee table) I just couldn't see myself doing it! Not really sure on the benefit of the brightener, though perhaps it helps to kill off the last of the fungus perhaps? End result I am already very happy with the results! Once the 2nd application of teak oil calms down then it will look as beautiful almost as when I purchased it all. I have a two seater bench, will it be enough?** A: You will have plenty for a two seater and probably plenty left to do a clean & protect in the next couple of years. I did a 3 seater that had been outside for 25+ years with no cover and it came up beautifully. If there has been any varnish or coating a good sanding will be needed to bring it off so the cleaner, brightener and oil can do their jobs. Word of warning .. It's hard work😉 **Q: Can you recommend a filler to match the oil colour for cracks in my team chairs and table?** A: No, sorry. **Q: What happens if I don't rinse off the teak brightener and let it dry?** A: I think the teak brightener is a very mild acid which helps the wood look lighter. I’ve just restored a teak table and chairs with this kit. Washed the brightener off as directed with the table, left it on longer with the chairs. Tried to oil a chair without washing it off. Didn’t look as good so washed it off other chairs before they got oil. Started again with the other chair. It had been outside for 18 months and needed some love. The set is very easy to use and the benefit of cleaning becomes clear. The photos are before, after cleaning and brightening, and after 4 coats of oil. There is enough of each bottle to undertake at least one more of each process.
