Review: Lifesaver with room for improvement - So,we replaced our kitchen chairs, and our cat learned he could lay on the back of the new ones. Didn't think it was a problem until the second time he did it and had a freak accident with the chair falling over on him and landing him with an emergency vet visit for tearing out his claw. I wanted to get rid of the chairs, but my husband was more hopeful that the cat had learned. Well, same exact night, cat was at it again, but without incident when the chair fell over. So needless to say,I set to researching and have discovered that as far as anti-tip devices go,there really aren't any options for chairs but this. I found the price devastating, but I honestly can't say it's unfair. And it was cheaper than replacing the chairs by far. I think the design/idea is excellent,it really is a lifesaver. It preserves the furniture you have,it's low profile,I mean you see it but it's not offensive. And,in my case,it made my chairs easier to move around. Plus giving them that bottom weight they desperately needed. The most important feature, the anti-tip,worked flawlessly. The cat was able to safely lay on the back of the chair now, didn't even move when he dismounted from it. So the safety in itself is worth it all. But the instructions are confusing and awful, very unclear. It's not like a person can't figure it out,but that just adds to the frustration that will surely come while you're trying to figure it out if you end up having straps backwards/tangled/aren't familiar with buckles. But the biggest problem I have with this is the buckle strap system. I think this would be a million times more pleasurable to set up with a ratchet strap. The buckle system,to get it tight and hold it that way, this becomes like a two person job and it's never quite as tight as I want it,even if we can get it tight,it just could be a bit more secure with a ratchet system. I have concerns about how often we'll have to keep going through the process of undoing the buckles to re-tighten them as the chairs get more and more use.
Review: Great device - pretty poorly designed instructions - Essentially it's a glorified piece of pretty wood with some straps on it to, effectively, make your chair have the physical characteristics of a box whose weight is somewhat equally proportioned (i.e., try tipping over a evenly loaded cardboard box) The instructions and accompanying pictures are surprisingly poor - if they fix the instructions and post them here, I will happily update my review to a 5/5 (despite the high price of this product) I've taught physics (and assembled many a piece of ikea furniture) yet scratched my head a bit at setting this up

## Questions & Answers

**Q: Does this device prevent side to side tipping or just front/back?**
A: This device is amazing. After my daughter tipped a chair and ended up in the ER I both got these for all of our bar stools. The chair cannot be tipped from any direction. It is a striking safety improvement.

**Q: Does this product work on carpet?**
A: We currently use it on a tile floor and find it very useful. I believe it would be fine on carpet. The bottom of the product is a completely flat surface. If your child pushes against another object, like a table or counter, I could see the potential for tipping on carpet. Whereas when our child pushes back with this product in place the whole chair just slides back

**Q: Will this work for a toddler sized chair? Legs are 10 inches apart.**
A: Yes, I’d think so.

**Q: Can someone still easily slide chair out and scoot forward to table?**
A: Yes. An adult can move the chair.

### ⭐⭐ Great device - pretty poorly designed instructions
*by D***E on November 20, 2018*

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ It works, but it is expensive
*by B***. on February 17, 2017*

Expensive, but it works. We have a large 2 year old (90% percentile on height, 100% on weight) who seemed determined to tip over his chair and booster seat during dinner. Meals were becoming an ordeal and real source of stress. Despite the simple design of the product, installing it wasn't intuitive and we were a little nervous at first. After he was in it 2 minutes the concerns went away. Made meals much more pleasant. The problem is this fixes the issue for only one chair and we're not going to pay to have it for every chair (plus, they are visually obtrusive). I'm glad we have it for his main chair, but will look for other solutions for the rest of the house.
