The chart is designed with a sliding red line which represents the "Average" first and last frost dates. Frost dates change year to year, but the average frost date for each area remains relatively stable over time. There is no need to purchase a new chart each year. **Q: Does this include gardening in Alaska?** A: This was a gift for someone in Pacific Northwest and I haven't followed up to find out if they used it or not.
