I believe they're copper plated tin, which is perfectly fine and actually preferred as tin does not conduct head as well, hence the application of the product.I placed a toaster oven / air fryer combo on this and ran it at maximum 450⁰F for 45 minutes. The top of this copper mat was quite warm to the touch, enough to burn sensitive hands. However, under the mat it was only very slightly warmer that the surrounding laminate counter top. So it seems like this is a winner. Highly recommended.Note: A corner was bent on both of these; however, this was likely due to rough handling and the absence of padding inside the large Amazon box. It was simple to bend them back with my fingers, but had to use some tools to perfect the bend angle. The trick to getting the sticker off is find the end of the large pice of tape that attaches the sticker and they will come right off.
