I researched these and ordered one but when it came, it did not have stainless steel blade although the description said it did but instead it was plastic. I did not even try it but shipped it right back. Amazon.com made it very easy to return for which I am grateful because I hate to return things. Then I looked again at all the choices on amazon.com, reading each description carefully and reading the reviews. This one, the Joyce Chen, had mostly favorable but some unfavorable reviews like rusting of the metal but I decided to try it anyway. It does have stainless steel blades and they click into place firmly so it cannot shift while you are cutting. It is important that you look at videos of how to cut your veggies and how to turn the handle and it is easy when you follow those guidelines. I love it. I think people got rusting or residue on the center shaft and blades because they did not clean it properly. It actually comes all apart and you can clean and dry it and put a little oil on the metal parts. The zucchini pasta is really good and my husband and I actually prefer it to real pasta and rice. I have put an Italian meat sauce on top and shrimp curry too--delicious. It could work for whatever -you want --like chili on top -and gives you a nice raw veggie to boot. I have a recipe for marinated cucumber that I want to try and use the spiral blade for because the seedless cuke needs to be cut very thinly and this should do it perfectly. Don't cheap out and buy one of those crappy handheld ones. *by K***P on August 24, 2016* This is hands down the best spiralizer I have ever owned. Those cheap hand held ones that are everywhere these days can't hold a candle to the Saladacco Spiral Slicer (where did that phrase "can't hold a candle to" even come from? So weird!). I got this device about 8 years ago while experimenting with raw food. I loved making veggie noodles and found this spiralizer to be so easy to use. The way it is designed with the veggie resting on the blade, the spiked plate resting on the veggie, and the super comfortable handle above it all makes it so you get the most noodles out of your veggies and you never have to worry about cutting your hands on sharp little blades. Sadly I lost this glorious piece of kitchen machinery in a move years ago. I tried buying one of those cheap-o hand held spiralizers that look like an hour glass to replace it...it is terrible and I am kicking myself for not being more careful and misplacing my Saladacco. I'm just going to have to suck it up and purchase another one because it is that good. I can't stop thinking about it.What a great zoodling device. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ LOVE this slicer! *by M***R on December 14, 2012* I use this thing to spiral slice EVERYTHING! On the thin setting I can use the green and yellow squash to make pasta like strands for veggie noodles, and it slices SO easily! NO struggle and very easy to clean. It has allowed for a bit more creativity in the kitchen! The only thing I would change if I could is the height of the food that I can put in the slicer. As it is, you can only use a food piece that is about 4-5 inches and still be able to close the top securely.
