My HD Tv supports scart for composite signals but wanted a better picture quality for N64. Composite signals on HD tvs lead to pixel separation which make games with 3d graphics look untidy, shooters and racing games are a bit unbearable because it's hard to see long distance. The cheap HDMI adapters loose brightness and contrast, which makes Doom 64 unplayable but decent enough for SNES. I could still use the composite lead for that but wanted to see if I could get a better experience with N64 hardware. Doom 64 looked great even though I had to adjust the brightness and contrast on my TV and in dark areas I could find switches even though it's a bit darker than composite, the crosshair on Goldeneye was more solid making it easier to aim. Mario kart 64 looked amazing. This adapter doesn't upscale, but it does clean the picture quality up more than analogue signal and SNES games looked twice as better. Sometimes the audio is absent when turning on but moving the aspect ratio switch back and forth fixes it. I did some further testing, this adapter is not compatible with PAL region. Works with NTSC only.
