With it removed you can access the large plastic nut underneath which holds the component in place. Obviously, before you start you need to isolate the water supply to the toilet, then flush it to remove most of the water from the cistern. You can then use a sponge to mop up the rest before dismantling. If you’re still unsure, there’s tutorials on U Tube that you can follow. It’s not as big a job as it sounds.
