I poured a few different colors into a container, filled with water, and set it on the counter, while we played with other sensory items. She kept checking on the beads, and would excitedly report back that they had gotten so much bigger. Once they were big enough, she played with them, for a surprisingly long time.The instructions say to pour one packet of beads into 32oz of water, but I don't measure the water. I just pour a bit of each color into a container of water, and once they beads are big enough, I drain the rest of the water. Full absorption will take 12-15 hours, but they are big enough to play with, after a few hours.I know that some other reviewers had mentioned that these break apart too easily, and while I might agree, if I were planning on re-using them, my niece loved the feeling of breaking them apart.
