It fits over the top hinge of the door, with the heart between the door and the frame, and then the door cannot be shut. It keeps the door open better than any doorstop we have tried in the past. My three year old has figured out that if he tries to shut the door enough times, the plastic stopper on the under side will fall out. He's turned it into a game though, he pops it off and brings the piece to one of us. It works fine without the piece, but it is what makes sure the foam heart stays on, so we keep putting it back. On their bedroom doors, we use this as well as a pinch guard (foam u-shaped thing that goes around the edge of the door to prevent pinched fingers), but the pinch guard is only used as back up in case the kids manage to knock this out. ### ⭐ 1.0 out of 5 stars Worst product I have ever purchased and I regret buying ... *by T***H on Reviewed in the United States on May 14, 2018* These door stoppers completely took the hinges off my doors on two of my doors.
