Review: Productivity and Precision - There's a lot of different options out there when it comes to choosing a new display for yourself, I think the EIZO is one you'd want to consider if you edit photos or produce video. I thought I'd point out a few of the things that stood out to me while using this over the last few weeks. The Display Right away I was really impressed with the viewing angles here, there's little to no colour shift at all when viewing from different angles. Since I have two displays set up, I view them both slightly off to the side, and it's crazy how much this highlights where my older display is getting things wrong. It's super bright and has amazing screen uniformity across the entire panel. I did notice that when viewing something which is mostly black with the brightness set high, you will start to notice that the black levels aren't so perfect. That said, the screen is so bright that if you have an image on screen that's producing colours, whites, etc, the contrast created makes those blacks look even deeper and hides any light that you might have seen bleed through otherwise. Since this screen has clearly been designed with a focus on productivity, you're going to see your photos and video content exactly how they should be. There's pre-configured settings for optimising your output to get the most from sRGB and Adobe RGB. You can also configure and customise your own colour profile in settings. There's a lot that can be controlled here, including manual control of magenta, red, yellow, greed, cyan and blue colour balance. To get the best out of this screen, you'll need to make sure your system GPU is capable of displaying at 2560x1440, 60hz, 10 or 12 bits per colour (RGB). In Day to Day Use Using this display day to day has been awesome. My older display doesn't have a USB hub built in like this one, so exploring what the built in hub can do has really opened my eyes to how simple it can make things. With USB-C and 60W power delivery and display port over USB-C, I can come home, pop my laptop on the desk and connect just on USB-C connector to my laptop. With that, my laptop is charging, displaying out to the EIZO screen, and the mouse, keyboard, USB ethernet and external HDD I've got connected to the screen are all connected at the same time. That's 1 wire for the entire job. The screen also allows access to the HUB via a standard USB connection. This means if you hook up something through anything other than USB-C, the screen can still share access to the hub. Within the settings, you can change which display mode (HDMI, USB-C etc) has access to and control of the hub at any given time. For example, I have my laptop connected through USB-C, and my PC connected through HDMI with the USB hub connected to it. When I select USB-C on the screen, I'll see the laptop output and the connected devices will connect to and control the laptop. If I switch to HDMI, those devices will be switched over to the PC, and I'll be able to see and control the PC using the same devices, it's great. If you are using primarily storage or other peripherals that you'd rather not have switched over, you can set the EIZO screen so that only one device has access to the hub, and will keep that access regardless of what display input you're viewing. This will let you keep everything connected to your PC while viewing another device. The hub also remains active and will continue to charge the laptop though USB-C while the screen is turned off, and there's a manual power switch under the bottom right hand side of the panel if you'd like to completely power off. Build/Design It's not the most fancy or futuristic looking monitor in the world. It's got bezels, and it's not the thinnest or lightest screen around. The screen it's self was obviously the main focus when designing it, and I'm OK with that. It's quite plain looking, and looks as durable as a screen could look. There's no distracting glossy parts, so it's not going to scratch up like those usually do after a few days. The stand and hinge are great and make it easy to move the screen up and down. It can turn left or right, and you can tilt or rotate the screen to suit your needs as well. There's basic cable management here too, a ring attaches to the back of the flat part the screen sits on, and you can thread cables into it. This will guide the cables left and right whenever you're turning the screen, it's simple but works well. There's 7 buttons on front, including the power button. These are capacitive buttons and will illuminate lightly when the screen is turned on. There is no speakers on this panel. I was quite surprised by that. I know it's not the only screen out there that doesn't have speakers, but at this price point, I feel this is something that should be featured here, even if it's just a couple of flimsy tweeters to get notifications through. I've enjoyed using the EIZO screen this past few weeks and it's changed how I work and interact with my devices day to day. To summarise +The panel looks great, it's bright, and it's able to produce a near exact representation of what is intended by the source. +USB Hub functionality is outstanding and is implemented perfectly, making it super easy to come and go, and to have multiple devices connected to the same accessories. +Easy navigation of settings, and lot's of control over gamma, gamut and colour balance for creators. -No speakers built in -Not the slimmest or prettiest design in the world. -Price point puts it in a category where things are extremely competitive, the display panel may hold up against the competition, but the design makes it hard for the EIZO to stand out Hope this is helpful
Review: My old Coloredge 240W had reached the end of its life after 15 years. There was no question about what brand of monitor I would replace it with. The Coloredge outlived two Dells and a ViewSonic used as secondary monitors. I am primarily a photographer, book designer/author and dabble in video. The extra screen real estate of this 27 inch monitor was welcome when using In-Design. The detail is superb and colors are right on. It is all you would expect from Eizo. I can't comment on gaming because I just have interest in it. I pair this monitor with a ViewSonic, which has the 709 Rec space for video. The USB ports are great and very conveniently placed on this monitor. I really dislike the controls. I have yet to find a monitor that has a good control setup. I am old school guy who likes knobs and switches over trying to figure out which little tactile button controls what. But we're stuck with that technology, and I suppose Eizo implements it as well as can be expected. Once I had this calibrated, I realized just how far off the old Eizo had drifted during its life. The results were way too red on the old one, using this as a standard. I look forward to many happy hours editing and printing with this monitor, hopefully the last one I'll have to buy. The price is steep, way more than other brands, but the quality is there. It all depends what you value most.

## Questions & Answers

**Q: Compatible with an old Apple Mac Pro ?**
A: Depends on the connection options you have available. We have several of these screens in our studio and have connected 2012 Mac Laptops connected, right through to 2020 versions. Plenty of inexpensive adapters available if the standard connections are not compatible.

**Q: Does it have a built in calibration sensor, or do I need to buy a spectrophotometer?**
A: It has calibration software, but not a sensor. You need to buy that separately, but you can use it with the built in software.

Saluti
