The majority of it is appropriate for a novice, and actually serves as a great starting point for exploring this differentiating aspect of Vedic Astrology. From helping ascertain insights into the Ascendant, Moon, and Sun in the birth chart to simply gaining awareness of how the influences of these lunar mansions can affect you day to day as you step out of your own front door. The readers attention will be held and inspired. Understanding these lunar mansions is perhaps the most essential and differentiating aspects of Vedanga Jyotish. Not to mention the added bonuses of how to use the nakshatras to to pick auspicious dates to begin new things or plan events. Also, the section on relationship compatibility is wonderful. It was a first opportunity for me to explore the kutas. My partner and I have quit a unique dynamic and this system nailed it!! It is worth noting that Dr. Harness acknowledges gay and lesbian people in his work. This is rare and appreciated. Discard the negative reviews posted with regard to this book. I expected much better though given the preface and introduction by Frawley. I however left disappointed as the info on each nakshatra was no more than 2 pages with a third page being a summary. It comes across as too simplistic and geared towards an absolute beginner with no knowledge of Hinduism or vedic astrology. Given the name and recommendations by such esteemed men in the field I though this book was going into a comprehensive account of each nakshatra with some modern elements thrown in.
