## Description

Product Description KOHLER GENUINE PART GP71969 VALVE MIXER KIT From the Manufacturer Kohler Genuine Part, Valve Mixer Kit, Older Coralais.

Review: Exactly match no issues - Perfect fit. New o rings. Exact match to the original. Thank you well needed for a replacement.
Review: worked great, no issues - If it is determined that you have the old Coralais Shower Valve (Part Number K-157877-K-NA) installed, be prepared to shell out a lot of money for Kohler replacement parts or shell out a lot more money to hire a plumber to change out the brass valve body. This style of valve body was originally manufactured by Sterling and is no longer in production. When Kohler bought out Sterling years ago, Kohler decided to continue to make serviceable parts for this valve body but the parts are expensive and the selection is quite limited. Since valve bodies are brand specific, not just any parts will fit. You must find the right parts for the specific valve. In short, the valve body will dictate what shower control valve you have to use and the shower control valve will dictate what kind of trim you can have. After spending weeks on the phone with Kohler and exchanging multiple emails for answers, I found that Kohler’s customer service reps are not well trained and give poor service. This guide should help you navigate to the right parts. Looking at the trim, if you have the old sterling escutcheon 00A2974FS, chances are you indeed have the old Coralais Shower Valve. Once you remove the escutcheon, the shower control valve will be exposed for identification. To identify a Kohler, single shower control valve (aka mixing valve), please visit this site to identify your valve. https://support.kohler.com/hc/en-us/articles/360001006373-Identify-a-Single-Control-Bath-Shower-Valve K-157877-K-NA Identifying Characteristics: • Cap has four screws that secure it to the brass valve body • The square, black plastic stem rotates counter-clockwise to turn on • The body of the mixer cap may be gray or black • May or may not have a pressure balancing unit If you experience unexplained changes in water temperature during your shower, the pressure balancing unit most likely needs to be replaced (if equipped). If your shower is constantly dripping, the mixing valve (aka shower control valve) needs replacing. In my opinion, if either needs replacing, replace them both of them at the same time. The pressure balancing unit (aka temperature balancing unit) you will need is part number GP800820. This part is replacing the older part number GP500520 but both will work. I found the GP800820 a few dollars cheaper. The shower control valve (aka mixer valve) you will need is part number GP71969. It has a cheap plastic stem but it’s the only one Kohler makes for this valve body. Here are your options if you are looking to change out the trim. For the escutcheon, only #00A2974FS and the #76602-CP exist. For the #00A2974FS, the handle you will need is model number #00A2975FS. Kohler still has the old sterling escutcheon #00A2974FS in stock and is much cheaper than what I could find on desertcart. If Kohler doesn’t carry the handle, I know that desertcart does. The old sterling escutcheon—and its handle—are made of shiny, chromed plastic, but designed to be installed right over the stem of the mixer valve, without the need of any other parts other than the two screws that hold the escutcheon in place (at least that how mine was previously installed). Keep in mind, there are bad reviews about this product having a loose fit and I agree. Not only that but the handle was difficult to turn and made shower temps very difficult to dial in. The only other escutcheon that Kohler carries is the #76602-CP. Made of metal and finished with polished chrome, this is still unpleasing to the eye but it’s this or the other one…your choice. If you choose to get the #76602-CP, there are a few other parts you will need: a handle, a thrust washer, and a stem adaptor. Regardless of which handle you get, you will need #71906 (stem adaptor) and #77673 (thrust washer). There are two handles to choose from that goes with the #76602-CP escutcheon. A clear, acrylic handle ($24) that gets secured by one screw to the top of the stem adaptor or an expensive ($49) metal handle that gets secured by two screws coming up from behind the stem adaptor. The acrylic handle part number 30316 came with a screw, plug, thrust washer, and the handle. The metal handle, part number K71904-CP, comes with two screws and a thrust washer. Note, the thrust washer that comes with the handle is different from the thrust washer (52375) that is needed for the escutcheon. In short, to replace the “guts” inside the brass shower valve body, you will need: • GP800820 PBU • GP71969 MV • GP30320 PBAP For the trim: Acrylic Handle • 30316 A Handle Kit • 76602-CP ESCUT • 71906 SA • 77673 TW • 52705 Screw (need 2) Metal Handle • K71904-CP M Handle Kit • 76602-CP ESCUT • 71906 SA • 77673 TW • 52705 Screw (need 2) Old Sterling Trim • #00A2974FS • #00A2975FS • 52705 Screw (need 2) When you have all the materials, follow instructions and all should go well.

Great mixer cap if this is the kind in your shower valve. This is exactly the same as the original one in my shower valve after I took apart my shower valve. Glad to find it here.
