I got tired of struggling to get the plastic bags open at the grocery store (weird pet peeve) and it seemed a waste to keep throwing them away. These are so much quicker and easier. Fill the bag, cinch it shut, then pull the toggle to secure the contents. Things do not tumble out, and you also don’t have tears in the bag from the banana stems, etc. Also strong enough to hold heavy things like a lot of potatoes, though I wouldn’t carry by the string. I swear the food keeps better too, maybe because of the air circulating through the mesh. I turn them inside out and put them in a delicates bag and wash cold delicate, then hang on my drying rack. If a bag gets too dirty, I just toss it out because they are so inexpensive and you get so many in the order. I’ve had them over a year, and they’re as sturdy as new (though a little wrinkled, but you can’t tell once the bags are filled). They’re so lightweight I don’t worry about adding any cost when weighed at checkout. Still, I would use plastic if I bought something super expensive like truffles.
