Quality product that seems to hold up to my abuse
Update: February 5, 2015. Owned two sets since last July. They are working GREAT! All the lids are intact, all the seals are still in place. They have been put through the washer too many times to count. The one container I abused with Spaghetti sauce looks clear now. Absolutely no complaints. I just ordered another set because we found so many uses for them including storing beading supplies.========================================Update a few days later: See below for new additions and extreme tests. I added one more extreme test at the bottom.********** This is the first part of my review ************This is my review after only just receiving them. I have a high standard to fill. I mean it. I want my storage containers to seal and stay sealed. I want to put them in my saddle bags on my motorcycle and not have to worry about food dripping onto my change of clothes. I want them to keep their shape after being washed in the dishwasher. I absolutely don't want to fight the lid getting it on or off. That said, here is how I tested them. I filled one of the larger containers 3/4 full with colored water and performed the following tests:I shook the container vigorously in all directions. No leakage!I tapped the container on the counter. No leakage!I held it one foot above the counter top and dropped it on it's bottom. One of the hinges that hold the lid on disconnected; failed. This will allow liquid to escape.I took the same container and held it at waste height from the floor and dropped it on it's bottom. Two of the hinges disconnected; failed; and water splashed all over the floor.I did the same waste height test and dropped it on it's side. No leakage! This is telling me that the downward pressure is forcing the O-ring to compress, relieving the pressure on the hinges, and allowing them to disconnect. My suggesting to the manufacturer is to make the product so that the user must press down on the lid a bit more so the hinges will make a more positive lock to the container. For now, I will put a rubber band around the hinges to lock them from disconnecting in my saddle bags.I have no experience yet using them in the microwave or the dishwasher, or washing the O-ring separately from the lid. I will update later. The containers and the lids are sturdy plastic. The hinges look like they will last for awhile.Pros:They are clear and I can see the contents wellThe lids are easy to get on and offThey are short and wide so they fit in the refrigerator betterThe price is goodThey stack really well in the cupboardCons:Dropping them on the bottom may prove to be messy if you are transporting liquidsSummary: I would like to hear more of a popping sound when the hinges connect to the container to make a really tight fit. That is why I only gave them four stars. I am donating *all* my old food storage containers to ARC and keeping these. I'm hoping that the Popit company will use me as a BETA tester for their new products! :~)*************** Beginning of new tests ***********************My wife has brought a couple of these to work. One had salad dressing. She likes them. No spills. She carries them in a bicycle saddle bag.New tests:I took a smaller container and filled it 3/4 full of colored water. I dropped it from one foot on it's bottom and from my waist onto it's bottom; there was no leakage and none of the hinges disconnected. I shook it vigorously and tapped it hard in all directions; no leakage.Ok, here's where I went to the extreme. I wouldn't recommend doing these things with your containers, nor would the manufacturer. I put the small container in the microwave with the colored water. I put the lid on top WITHOUT the hinges locked. The water was boiling in about 45 seconds, I stopped it at 1 minute. I noticed that the lid was trying to be sucked into the container as the water cooled. I didn't want to fight it so I rotated the lid so the O-ring wouldn't seal. I put the container back in and boiled the water for 2 more minutes. The result: No harm, deformations, or warping. The lid was fine and the O-ring was fine. I don't think I need to worry about the dishwasher test because the water temperature will never reach the boiling point.I emptied the water, took off the O-ring and inspected it. Taking the O-ring off and putting it back on was easy (you may have to use a butter knife). It's made of a nice flexible material. I cooled the container and put some more colored water in. I performed the same shaking and dropping tests as above. No leakage or hinge disconnects. At this point, I'm more than impressed and It's making me want to see how far I have to go to get this thing to fail. So, again, these two tests are not recommended: I threw the container into the air to about 7 feet. It hit the linoleum floor on the corner. A piece of the lid broke off, but no water spilled, the hinges stayed connected, I shook it and no water escaped. Impressed again. Next test: I took it outside, threw it up in the air to about 20 feet, it landed on it's bottom onto my brick patio. The lid came completely off and water spilled everywhere (of course). The container had no further breaks and was completely intact. I am going to keep using this for storing food even with the corner broken.Summary after new tests: Use the smaller containers for transporting liquids. I highly recommend these containers. I still think that the hinges could be a tighter fit. If I could give them 4.5 stars at this point, I would. I'm holding out for the 5 star rating until I've used them for a longer period of time. The spaghetti sauce test is next.*********** Spaghetti Sauce Test *************I don't know why I enjoyed abusing the containers this way.I filled the same small container as above 3/4 full with Classico Italian Sausage sauce. I put it in the microwave with the lid slightly ajar so it wouldn't seal (The Popit company recommends that you don't put the lid in the microwave). I put it on for a full minute. My microwave is an 1,100 watt high powered unit. The sauce immediately started popping, probably due to the sausage. The sauce was boiling before the full minute, but I let it go for the full minute. I inspected it to see if the plastic had any issues. I put it in for one more minute. During this time, the container was literally jumping off of the carousel and the sauce was lava. It had splattered onto the bottom of the lid and O-Ring, and the inside of the microwave. I was pretty sure that I ruined the container! NOT! I pulled lid off with a little struggle because the sauce fused the lid to the container; none of the plastic melted. I put the lid back on and carried the container to the sink using the flanges on the side of the container so I wouldn't burn myself. Did you hear that part? I was able to carry lava 5 feet only seconds after the microwave stopped! I washed the container and inspected. No pitting, no melting, no deformations. The container remains a little orange from the sauce (of course). I expect that to fade. I filled it with water, sealed it, shook it, no leakage.Summary: Don't cook tomato sauce in the containers unless you like orange containers. I am thoroughly impressed with their ability to withstand high temperatures. I believe they can hold up to everyday use from any family. I will be buying more because, inevitably, we loan them to our grown kids to take leftovers and they don't come back. I believe that is my last test. Jeff************* Hinge tests **********************I wanted to see how many times I could flex one of the hinges before it broke. I put some thought on how I could get as many repetitions in the shortest amount of time. I came down to a simple manual exercise. I marked the hinge to make sure it was the same one. I flipped it back and forth on the edge of a hard surface. I estimated that I was able to flip the hinge back and forth between 1 to 3 times a second. Let's say for the sake of argument that it averaged to about 2 per second (I think it was more). You have to understand that at this point, my wife thinks I've lost my sanity.I continued the test for about 55 minutes. 55 minutes * 60 seconds * two back and forth flips per second equals 6,600 flips.Result: it failed after 55 minutes. WAIT, before you come to some conclusion that this product is somehow inferior, read on. If the average user were to flex the hinge once a day for 6,600 days, it would last over 18 YEARS! To give credit to the product, not everybody is going to flex the hinges once a day, nor would they flex them as hard as I did. I was trying flip it fast, the faster I went, the harder it would hit the counter.I also wanted to see if I could break a different hinge by hitting it hard against the counter. When I hit the hinge on the counter, I hit the edge and followed through with the swing. I hit it over 30 times.Result: No marks, no wear and tear.Even if I do think of more tests, I don't think it would matter. I'm upgrading my rating from 4 stars to 5.I hope I didn't bore you. I am not in any way affiliated with the Popit company, nor have I received anything in return for my review. I have a full time job as an environmental consultant. Happy travels.Jeff

Forget the hype! ....Popits are just "ok"
Don't let the hype or fancy name influence you!!!!! These containers are just ok at best. First of all, pictures are a little deceptive. One picture depicts them as clear containers. They are translucent. I wish they were like my older Reynolds Cleverware. The Cleverware was stronger and had very clear strong plastic but their lids were difficult to put on (only fault). They did not stain or keep oders no matter what you put in them. Those were the first BPA free containers I purchased. I will miss them in their retirement. These also don't "snap" firmly closed as similar products such as Emsa (see my review). They seem a little light on the snap-lock mechanism.I do like the larger sizes. I also do like the way they nest for storage. Additionally, they seem easy to clean. The rubber seal is removable but a little tricky to take out for cleaning. There should be directions included on how to do just that. I have experienced bacterial buildup between the seal and cover on other similar products. Because the seal was not removable, I had to throw the lids away. One reviewer ran these through a torture test that is valuable to read. Look for his outstanding review. It appears customer service is outstanding BUT the products have to perform. This is what I'm paying for!Bottom line is they have to last 3 years without breakage or excess wear. Eventually all my plastic kitchen products such as these get rotated out of commission into the garage for storage of hardware. I will upgrade or lower my review after more use.UPDATE 1: I noticed after washing these, a small amount of water sometimes gets trapped between the removable seal and lid. Not sure if this is going to be a bacteria trap in the future. To remove and clean the seal which is round, use a stiff guitar pick. It takes some work to get the seal lifted but once up, the process goes pretty quick.UPDATE 2: I'm lowering my rating to "its ok" because that's all they are (per my cook). I'm comparing this product to the EMSA storage containers which are from Germany. The EMSA products have wider permanently attached lid seals which make for easier cleaning and no possible bacterial buildup (unless the seals fails of course).UPDATE 3: I just bought more EMSA containers from Marshalls, TJ MAX, and here on AMAZON! They make some really large containers which my wife likes. They definitely are a step above these Popits. Popits aren't bad, there are just more options out there to consider.

This product is a life saver!
I love this brand. Love.it! Here's why, I have own, many, many, like 20 of all their sizes. I bought them for a period of time and the ln, when I had all the possible sizes, I used them for YEARS. YEARS PEOPLE. I recently renewed my set because of vanity, after more than 3 or 4 years, I wanted new ones. I will never try any other brand. They will never leak, no matter what position you store them in. They are so Easy to clean, they don't hold smells, they rarely stain, like it would have to be a very heavy sauce that sat in your container for days. Maybe weeks. They look good. I used to store bread and cookies cause they will never loose crunchyness! NEVER! They are the best brand for me. Ah, and they are not heavy at all. Try them! Oh, also, food lasts an eternity cause it doesn't touch air, they are truly hermetic. And they will also keep moist out forever. I am junkie for this brand. Hehehe. I have no time to be minding that my container doesn't spill!

Excelente producto.
