I have installed them on several different gates from metal to wood. This latest version has improved upon the original design and now features a visual indicator. I will say that I do wish it was larger than just a little red dot. It really needs to be able to be seen from a distance and from all sides to be the most useful. Perhaps it could be a red band around the lifting latch rod or some other means. Other than that it has the great features that made it popular to begin with. The magnetic latching system by far is the best one available IMO. It works so reliably. The tall vertical latch keeps it limited to taller people to operate. The key and cylinder do need the occasional oiling for best results, but they work fine. The finish doesn't fade easily.
