The sling they sent him home with from the hospital was very poorly made and uncomfortable for him to wear. When I could not find one in the area to purchase, I went to my old backup - Amazon - and thank goodness. I asked for it express and he has been very pleased with it. It is more comfortable with the suspender type straps. The only problem is that the strap for around his body was way too small. I speak from the experience of 5 different surgeries on arms and shoulders. My first was given to me by an orthopaedic surgeon for both support and immobilization following shoulder surgery. I liked it so much that I used it for all problems involving arm or shoulder joints until I wore it completely out. It works equally well on either the right or left side. Once in place it stays in place without the constant slipping and readjusting of the single-strap style of sling and can be used with or without the immobilizing swath, depending on the problem. Your shoulders will thank you, too, because it completely eliminates the discomfort of the weight pulling on the supporting shoulder.
