It is comfortable enough to not affect sleeping. I need to continue the stretching exercises too throughout the day , but I can walk with tolerable pain. The velcro wrap on the toe portion wore out after about 4 months and would not hold, so I ordered a replacement. They can be worn over socks or stockings or even bare feet. Because of the velcro wrap its size changes to whatever you need. Be careful, though, not to snag the stockings with the velcro. It’s the same brand and says basically the same info** A: I believe it is as I have both as well. **Q: Will they work for a child's feet?** A: Depends on how small. They are adjustable , Mine are for a woman and would fit any foot from 6 to 7 inches long (not size) probably ok for a child 10 or older. They are around 3 to 3.5 inched wide. I wear mine with the highest insert. So while it is a good fit, it is comfortable, and it helps eliminate the pain, it stills slides off and/or allows my foot drop. Strapping below the widest part of the calf is the dumbest idea. But they all seem to be designed that way. The problem is exacerbated by a strap that is too short. Or my calf is too big for device, but here were no size options, just the one. Also since the molded plastic’s angle is a bit too shallow to form well to my foot when it’s bent at the proper angle, the splint kept slipping down. It gets 4 stars because it’s the best product I’ve found (and I’ve tried every design out there) except the boot that fits on the back of the leg (and I can’t wear those), but not 5 because I just want a splint that holds my foot and doesn’t slip at night. Side note: the Velcro is crap.
