However, after receiving the book, I read through the patterns and realized they are written to be knitted flat, folded and seamed together. That's a lot of fiddly seaming work, especially with some of the intricate curving and shaping in these cute little guys. So when I knit them, I'll have to convert them to knit in the round, because I hate seaming - and toys like this can easily be knit in the round. If I had known the patterns were knit flat I probably would not have purchased this book. So I thought I would add this information in case anyone else has the same preferences and would like to know ahead of time. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ An Odd Knitter's Perfect Companion *by K***W on Reviewed in the United States on June 3, 2010* Are you someone who gets tired of knitting the same old things (i.e. socks, sweaters, and boring traditional toys)? If so, this book is the answer to your prayers. I bought this book on a whim because I really loved the cover. Lo and behold what a joy! The patterns are weird and wonderful and colorful! Owls, conjoined twins, stripey cats, magic mushrooms, and pink poodles--not your average knitting menagerie. The patterns go from easy to more challenging and provide concise instructions. There is an excellent 'how-to' section that provides easy to follow pictures for harder stitches. I've completed quite a few of the projects & can't wait to make more. I love this book & really hope to see more odd creations from this author!I did find a couple typos that you should be aware of, but are no big deal.*For Olive Owl, Wing Piece One is supposed to read: Row 3: K1, M1R, K5, M1L, K1 (9 sts)*For Ginge Marmalade: the Rows are misnumbered starting after Row 31 ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Raccoons and cats and owls, oh my! *by A***N on Reviewed in the United States on October 14, 2009* I immediately fell in love with this book when I saw the raccoon on the cover. The instructions were clear and easy to follow, and I have already made two raccoons from the patterns. I loved that each character came with its own story. One complaint is that several of the patterns seem to be variations on the raccoon, just made a little larger and/or with different colors. I was hoping for different creatures, but having worked on individual designs for books myself, I can only imagine having to come up with 35 truly individual designs for one book.
