The flakes are neat because you can see that the chip still have the imprints of the palm leaves. (Check wikipedia if you are unclear where this stuff comes from -- way cool.) Anyway, the 1 lb bags are the same quality Carnauba wax but more finely powdered. Probably that is good for some things. I am using this stuff two ways. Use 1) I use an electric iron to saturate very thin cloth and make collages. It is a neat effect. Most recently I have used the same process to cover very thin plywood to make pieces for a mobile. See pictures.Use 2: Melt in a double boiler 1 part Carnauba wax to 2 parts walnut oil. The result is a hard paste wax that is terrific for finishing wood. Don't use much, just rub it on, wait an hour, and then buff with a clean cloth. The stuff doesn't contain any drying agents like commercial paste waxes so it doesn't dry nearly as quickly. But it works great. It is a little stiff for lubricating screws for power driving but it will do the job.
