Then, I started reading it only to find it is poorly written with numerous grammatical errors - like a sentence that says "as HER and Horace began to pack" on page 57- it should be She and Horace.. page 77 misspells the name Elizabeth as Elisabeth page 81 says "made sure his horses WHERE very well attended to instead of WERE - also says "footmen WHERE to dress in uniform - again should be WERE. Page 82 says "snowflakes were causing "quite stir". Page 85 says Horace would have given every "DINE" he had to save the baby. She often uses OF instead of HAVE - as in "should HAVE" instead of "should OF" She seems to easily get off on tangents like huge snowflakes in Montana that have little or nothing to do with the story. She also slips off into a tangent on Jack the Ripper. Don't know why editors didn't catch the numerous errors in this book. The errors are distracting, but I hope to finish the book to see what her perspective is. In the meantime, she should take a class in grammar and get a new editor if she wants to be an effective writer. ### ⭐⭐⭐ Average at Best *by F***E on Reviewed in the United States on October 14, 2020* The book was entertaining as far as the story goes. I have read many other books and researched quite a bit about Baby Doe and while I realize that much of this was fictionalized, a lot of the “facts” don’t really mesh with much of the other information out there. I would recommend this as far as a semi- fictionalized biography but if you’re in the market for something strictly researched or more biographical to the limited extent of knowledge of some parts of Baby Doe’s life, I would go elsewhere.
