This book features carefully transcribed compositions for piano from the great Keith Emerson. The work has been completed by a group of fans from around the world who have the most amazing skills, patience and determination to undertake this work. The pieces are very clearly printed on quality paper and the book is well bound together, so that you can keep the book open at a particular page without having almost break the spine to do so. As to the accuracy of the transcriptions, I asked a friend who is a very good sight-reader to play a couple of the pieces and, despite the fact he had never even heard of Keith Emerson, he was able to give an entirely convincing performance. Five stars just isn't enough!

Superb collection of Keith Emerson's piano compositions, and which I'm already practicing. Highly recommended for any piano-playing Emerson aficionados, and for anyone wanting to broaden their repertoire.

Keith Emerson has inspired thousand of musicians all over the world, his passion and unique approach to the world of keyboards and piano has made him be the number one keyboard player at keyboard magazine for many years. Keith Emerson's legacy carries on. I would like to encourage piano teachers to introduce this music into your students repertoires, it is technical, inspiring, passionate and will give your pupils are different perspective. Keith Emerson uses elements from J.S Bach to Brubeck as well as influences of many classical european composers. The Emerson plays Emerson is a must have for any pianist with an open mind to discover a whole new world of great piano music. From a personal perspective and a piano teacher myself I could invite you to check the results of my student Ethan Emerson (Keith's grandson) playing The Dreamer with a 60 piece orchestra at the Symphony Hall in Birmingham. The music of Keith Emerson has inspired me beyond my own expectations since a very early age. I’m always on the look out for new and interesting pieces to learn, so although this book is relatively expensive at £25, I thought I would give it a go.The pieces are clearly printed on good quality paper. But I do wish publishers of sheet music would use a spiral binding – it’s so annoying to have to keep stopping to bend the spine backwards so that the book will stay open on the page you want.The pieces vary in difficulty. I’m a fairly competent pianist (maybe about grade 6 or 7 standard) – and a lot of these are way beyond my abilities. He must have been a seriously talented pianist! However there are enough pieces that I do feel competent to tackle and I don’t feel as if I have wasted my money.I have to admit that I’m finding even the easier pieces quite challenging because they follow a harmonic pattern that I am not used to (I generally play pieces in the classical music genre) and I need to get my hands into shapes they are not used to. But that was kind of the point anyway.Certainly a very interesting book of music; I’ve taken away 1 star for the irritating solid binding.

As it only contains the music sheets....I have no interest in it.

This is a quality book. The trascriptions are excellent.

I bought it especially because one of my closest friend did some of the work for this book but specially i have always love ELP group.

Este libro da un paso de gigante en la misión de mantener vivo el legado del gran maestro y en la de poder trasmitirlo y compartirlo con actuales y futuras generaciones de músicos. Solo puedo dar las gracias a todos los que han participado en su realización y a los cientos o miles de horas que durante 12 años han dedicado a esta obra. También me siento agradecido con "Amazon Distribution GmbH, Leipzig" por imprimirlo y distribuirlo. Seguramente mi mejor compra musical del 2020, sin duda alguna.

Imperdibile libro e collezione delle trascrizioni per pianoforte dall’omonimo CD dell’unico e inimitabile Keith Emerson. Nato dalla passione, dal duro lavoro e impegno di un gruppo di studiosi e appassionati transcrittori delle composizioni del Maestro. Solo per musicisti veri, non contiene foto ma solo spartiti.

これはピアノ楽譜である(co.jpでは表紙写真のみ確認できるが、amazon.comでは内容確認可能である)。「Emerson plays Emerson」収録の曲から、Keithの作品が17曲、加えてその他の彼の作品も8曲含まれている。11.B&W Blues(Double Bass part) , 24.Inferno(Orchestral version) ,25.Piano Concerto(連弾譜)以外はすべてピアノソロである。そして今まで発売されてきたEL&Pの楽曲に比べると、メカニカル的には比較的易しいものになっている。PC1以外は、ファンによるtranscriptionであるが、amazon.comの説明に「This book includes a foreword and poem by Keith Emerson and is fully endorsed by his Estate.」とあるように内容はしっかりしたものになっている。総199ページで、そのうちの50ページはPC1である。私は「Emerson plays Emerson」のCDはあまり聴く回数は多くなかったのであるが、この楽譜を入手したことにより、収録された楽曲を更に詳しく聴いていきたいと思うようになった。また、いくつかの曲は私の技量でもどうにか弾けるレベルのものがあり、この楽譜を手にピアノに向かう時間も増えそうである。また「The Land of the Rising Sun」が楽譜になっているのも嬉しいことであり、今後、3月11日にはこの曲を弾くことを恒例にしていきたいと思っている。今後もKeithの楽曲が出版されていくことを願っている。
