It's not loud at all and there are multiple settings that you can use based off your hair type and texture. I've always struggled with finding a blow dryer that doesn't hurt to use after a while. I have very thick hair and it only took me about 30 minutes to do my entire head after immediately getting out of the shower. I have 3b hair and it's pretty damaged but this didn't cause any extra damage with the right hair protectant.
