An Amazing Tool For Testing All Your Christian Doctrinal Theories!

*by J***A on Reviewed in the United States on December 1, 2008*

This book is awesome! The Tabernacle (and Holy Days) are an amazing template of the spiritual journey every person will eventually make from Egypt to the Promised Land.By analyzing in the physical all the rituals that took place in the tabernacle you can figure out everything a Christian should do in the New Testament without making things up, listening to "men", and guessing all the time. For example: The baptism of the Holy Spirit is something that has been really ambigous to me. My wife and I were "baptized in the Holy Spirit" by accident in 2004 (our church taught it was not really scriptural and that at the water baptism all Christians are baptized in the Holy Spirit). Some Christians say tongues are for today some say it's of the devil. But if we look at the Tabernacle, as a template, it shows us something really interesting:What if a Christian putting faith in Jesus (blood of the lamb) is Passover/Brazen Altar/Outer Court Christianity. This means that the initial birth into God's family through faith in Jesus is represented by the Brazen Altar or Passover. That makes sense. All Israel could go into the Outer Court but not all Israelites could minister in the Holy Place. So Spirit Birth into God's family is represented by Passover. But then as a Christian matures (ie can hear God through the Spirit instead of needing to follow men) becomes ready to minister (like an Aaronic Priest) he's annointed for service by Moses pouring oil on his head. This annointing for service is exactly the perfect fit for the "baptism of the Holy Spirit") marked by speaking in tongues in the New Testament. These are people who go into the Holy Place and instead of needing to be told what God says, by a priest, are able to listen to the Spirit in the Holy Place symbolized by the Olive Oil Lamp and Bread from Heaven and Incense Altar (Prayer). The Holy Place symbolizes Pentecost. Phase 2 in a Christians Life. It's fits exactly. But it's not the final destination. And Phase 3 is the Holy of Holies -- this if for mature believers who have perfect communion with God which is "The Feast of Tabernacles" symbolized by the Face to Face Cherubs on the Mercy Seat. Face to Face communion with God means we are Love just like God is Love. That's the goal of Christianity. Perfect Love/Communion with God.Since tongues really is a sign reverting back to Babel and man made religion trying to reach God it means that God picked tongues as a sign for Pentecost because via the Holy Spirit found in the "Holy Place" God does allow people to "reach God" now through Jesus Christ. The Tabernacle model is the Path to God or "Jacob's Ladder." Or as the Orthodox church might call it "Theosis."So now when we speak of speaking in tongues we don't say "baptized in the Holy Spirit" we say "annointed for service". Christians who depend on "a minister" for all their truth are "Passover Christians" and Christians who are walking Love children who hear God directly through the Spirit are mature Christians or Tabernacles or Holy of Holy Christians. Love is the Goal not tongues but the Tabernacle makes that pretty obvious. This book took my Christianity to a whole new level and I highly recommend it. So instead of mincing scriptures to prove your theories use biblical templates that don't lie.I think that by studying the Tabernacle, Christianity should go from the 38,000 denominations who all claim to be in "the truth" as reported on Wikipedia to one denomination who actually is in "the truth".Amazing Book!

    The beginning of understanding

*by D***D on Reviewed in the United States on September 21, 2010*

This is an excellent presentation of the meaning behind the details God instructed Moses to include in the tabernacle building, its furnishings and utensils. Like all of the Old Testament, there is significant meaning in the surface account of the tabernacle, particularly as it relates to the worship practices of the Israelites. But beneath that surface account is even more significant spiritual meaning, all of it pointing toward Christ and God's plan for the redemption and restoration of fallen man. This book is a great beginning to appreciating the hidden spiritual content in all of the Old Testament. The saving of Noah and his family through the flood points toward the saving of sinners through washing in the blood of the Lamb. Abraham's offering of his son Isaac on the altar points toward the Father's immeasurable gift of His Only Begotten Son on the cross for the atonement of all sin. Every account in the Old Testament holds within it the potential for better understanding of Christ and His centrality to God's plan for bringing His children back to His side. Study of the symbolism of the tabernacle should be followed by a similar study of the seven sacred feasts, the events of the exodus, the days of creation, and the other accounts of the Old Testament that are storehouses of deep spiritual truth. Here is another good resource for such a study:

    worth reading

*by N***T on Reviewed in the United States on February 6, 2020*

I think Mr. Levy did a good job of bringing out the old testament scriptures that explained the Old Covenant Law of Moses as seen in the Temple and it's sacrifices for the sins. This is worth reading and buying the book. As noted by other reviews, some of his allusions to the types and shadows that apply to Christ are questionable. He also makes some assertions about the New Covenant of Christ that are questionable based upon one's take on eschatology and what the New Testament writers had to say about it as it applied to first century Christianity and us today. If Mr. Levy had left his opinions out of the book in these areas and stuck with the task at hand I would have given this book 5 stars.
