I needed all black boots for work. Since I'm mainly behind a desk at work, I decided to go cheaper. I definitely wanted waterproof and warm for my walks into the office (our parking lot floods and our heat is lousy). They haven't leaked yet, and I've walked through a few puddles. I wasn't sure if there was any metal on them when I ordered.
