Does the post filter fit under/over the pre filter?** A: fits on the opposite of the electronic filter Pre goes before; post goes after; the electronic filter goes in between **Q: Are these suitable as pre and post filters? Or do I need a different type of ore filter?** A: These are post filters, there is a different pre-filter that is aluminum and is washable (carefully). Let it dry completely before putting it back into the unit. Also a Honeywell product. Make sure to get the correct size. Had to use 2 of each for my furnace, but they came in a two pack. Also make sure they are in the right direction for the air flow. Easy to install. I purchased them in Sept. 2015, and the product may have changed some, although it shows 2 filters to make the correct size. No longer living at that house. Read the reviews, they may answer any other questions you may have. Hope this helps. **Q: These just arrived but they are gray whereas old ones are blue green. What's the difference?** A: To expand on another answer, Honeywell updated their design. These silver ones are supposed to be more effective and efficient than the older green ones. These are not the same as the see thru pre filter that many people are getting confused with. **Q: Is this actually green or gray? My original filter is green** A: Yes, the -004 postfilters are gray. ## Customer Reviews ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Great Filter - Many Years of Use... *by W***G on October 5, 2019* I have been using mine now for almost 3 years without issue. I clean them every year and they look as good as the day I purchased them. I use a air compressor to blow out all the dust bunnies and anything else trapped inside, and then I use a water hose and spray them carefully without to much water pressure bearing down on them. Once its washed with water I use the air compressor to blow out all the water and then let them sit in the sun for the afternoon, by mid day they are fully dry and ready to go. These things were built to last! ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ watch the you tube videos to see how to use the product *by D***L on June 6, 2025* do not wash replace every six months ### ⭐ This is NOT the proper replacement filter. *by C***T on October 1, 2022* The filter set I received was the proper size. But, it is NOT the filter in the picture. The filter media was different: a cross hatch front and rear screen with fine plastic type media between them. When I called another Honeywell component distributor, he was not aware of this type, or of any other "approved" replacement for the post filter. However, we both agreed the screen make up probably provided some level electrostatic filtration and is probably not worth the bother to return. He shared this with me even after telling me his company had the exact post filter (part # 50000293-004 with the blue cellular filter media) required for my air filter unit.
