Out of the package, there was a very musty smell, but my daughter tried it on and it fit nicely (the look was exactly like the model for my slender 6 year old; full sleeves and ankle length). To remove the smell, I then washed in cold and dried on low. As the other reviewer said, it wrinkled like crazy. Not such a big deal, I can iron, BUT, after washing, this thing shrunk like CRAZY. The sleeves now just cover her elbows and the hem falls just below her knees. For the price of this "100% cotton" pajama dress (of which I am doubtful given the amount the dress shrank and the fact the material is VERY stretchy), it should have lasted through several washings. Carters doesn't even shrink that much. I was going to buy one for my younger daughter, but now I won't bother - after shrinking it is too small for even her. I am pretty disappointed and would not recommend this item. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Runs small *by S***L on Reviewed in the United States on February 21, 2019* Very sweet little nightgown, old-fashioned looking, just as we wanted. My daughter wears a 6 or 6/7 in clothes, so I ordered the 6/7. The fit on arrival was just right, with no room for it to shrink. I washed it but line dried, but the material wrinkles a lot, so I tossed it in the dryer on low for about 5 min. This caused it to shrink to where the sleeves are now uncomfortably short on her. I am returning and have reordered the next size up. The quality of the gown is also not great--stray strings hanging off, etc., but it will hold up for awhile. She is wearing it to dress up as a book character and school, and she will wear it as a nightgown too, so it will serve its purpose.
