The Derby laces stay tight much better and are easier to lace up since they are lightly waxed. I love them, they are a great upgrade to your skates at a very reasonable cost. I got the 108" length, there is some excess but I wind it back down the hooks twice and then tie the bow (the next length down would have been too short). I have skated a few times since switching and no signs of wear yet. The color is also perfect (I got Hot Magenta). I wouldn't skate without these laces now!Update: It's been a few months now and the skate laces are still great. I decided to get some laces (72") for my Converse shoes as well. I have a brand new pair that I got Hot Magenta and Lime Green for and a 2 year old pair that I cleaned the scuffs off with a magic eraser and then put the new white Derby laces on. I got two different colors, yellow and blue. The yellow color was great, the blue matches the advertised color, but I wish they had a slightly darker blue like you would see on flags.This is my first time with waxed laces, and I am happy with the upgrade, much easier to get my laces tight. I have not had them long enough to assess their long term durability, but the material seems pretty rugged.
